KEENClearwater Cnx mens Water Shoe

I have a friend who does a LOAD of long walks and he has three pairs of Keen sandals, which he really recommended, including a pair he wears to the beach and in the sea, so I thought I'd give them a try.They are really comfy, grippy, and all-round great, but they don't last. I've previously worn Columbia sandals and they lasted 2 or 3 years before the material starts getting worn or the grip wears away. I bought these Keen sandals in April 2021 and after a few months the stitching on one side of one sandal started to come apart. I thought I had maybe overstretched it putting it on, so I got it re-stitched and glued at Timpson.Then the same thing happened to the other sandal, so I had that one repaired too.Then I noticed that the stitching on the other side of the sandal was also coming away, so I contacted Amazon and I received a full refund, even though the sandals were over a year old at that stage (well done Amazon), because who pays this much money for sandals which don't last more than one summer?I've still got the sandals and still wear them, but other stitching is coming away and the footbed of each sandal is splitting/cracking either side of where the strap joins it.So.... Amazon did really well, these sandals were the best I've ever had, but they started to fall apart far too soon under some fairly light wear. I'd buy another pair of Keen for £50 - £60, but only from a retailer I could trust to refund me if they started to fail after several months.They're fractionally small, BTW - I typically wear a size 10 or 10.5 and these in a 10.5 (UK sizes) were snug... probably a perfect fit, but definitely smaller than other 10.5 shoes/sandals I own.

These sandals are fantastic - can't fault them. They completely encompass the foot without tightness, never chafe and can be worn in water or over rough terrain without compromise. They've got a neat heel strap and a sturdy toe bumper to prevent stubbing and can be worn immediately on long walks without any 'wearing-in'. A great plus is that you can wash them as well - in the washing machine! I've never actually done this - I usually just wash them in the sink with some hand-wash soap, gently scrubbing the footbed with a toothbrush to get right down to the toes. Lean them up against a sunny wall (heel-down to let the water drain out) and they'll be dry and ready to wear again in no time!

I'm new to these shoes, so read all about how many people found them too small and hard to get on and off. I ordered a half-size above my normal size 8 and I have to say, they are just fine. They go on and off easily and fit snugly but not too snugly when on. I'm very pleased. The lack of straps and the stretch-on and stretch-off pulling of the heel piece makes me wonder about long term durability, but I can't comment on that yet.

Managed to find these and fit reasonably well with a wider foot, but like other the use of the neoprene layer without a gap is making getting these type of sandals increasingly difficult to get on with the tighter fit especially since I have a high instep, had to go 0.5 size higher, fortunately with affecting general fit too badly. Hoping these last longer than cheaper alternatives.

This is the second pair of these excellent Keen toe protected, waterproof sandals, they are sturdy and very comfortable. I can wear these all day without issue. Hard to fault in any way, highly recommended.
