Holistic Care for Birds

What a joy to read a book by an avian veterinarian who really understands the subtle emotions, personalities, stresses, joys, wants, and needs of pet birds. I’m pleased to see that there are natural and homeopathic remedies we can keep on hand for emergencies (until we can get the bird to a vet), shock and panic (getting attacked by a predator), as well as gentle remedies to help clear distressed emotional states. I’m glad to know there’s even a remedy for easing grief and major life changes when a bird’s mate dies. Wonderful! I even learned about Bach flower essences I can use to help myself, and how they work! Additionally, I was surprised to find it full of beautiful sketches of birds.

I was very pleased with the condition of this book and the efficiency in which it arrived. Well done Amazon. The book itself makes for really good reading if you are a bird lover. It is by far better caring for your birds this way (the natural way) instead of going to a vet and getting things like antibiotics etc. Many thanks Amazon

I am an avid aviculturist, and my flock s well being is of the outmost priority. This book is a bible to every bird owner flip through its contents and so much viable information that could be cause of prevention on deadly situations.....the information provided is not only for birds but for humans also...it is a handy manual to be kept on hands reach at all times.I most definitely recommend this book to all

The advice written in this book should always be confered with a licensed practicing avian veterinarian as well as a holistic veterinarian. Much of the herbs/natural remedies in this book can be extremely dangerous and harmful if not used correctly. Be careful. This is a good book overall but never act alone.

Found this helpful and a good start. Of course always seek a veterinarians advice for any supplementation but this was very helpful in narrowing down things that can help certain ailments.

This book is a Gem! I am applying some remedies on my Eclectus Parrot with her feather plucking issues. Its only been two days and I already notice a difference in her behavior! Very happy parrot care taker! :)

Love the depth on keeping your birds healthy. A great book to keep on the shelf to refer back to when needed. This type of info will not become outdated. Everyone should have this book!

Read the book it was helpfull and I hope to fined more like this I have birds they are not sick but if they get sick I would be able to care for them confidently

I was delighted to find this book dealing with holistic remedies for my flock of parrots. Favouring holistic remedies for myself, my family and all of our other animals, I was concerned about using them for the smaller, more sensitive and generally more difficult members of our crew, and needed to find dedicated information. This book has firmly filled the requirement.Well-written and easy to read, I also like very much the sympathy and love for parrots that shines through.Excellent and highly-recommended.

Not really what I expected. Aimed mainly at Hook bills, with very little info about finches. Geared towards people who are already knowledgable in herbs, etc.
