Great flashlight
I purchased this light on a whim after seeing the specs and the glowing reviews on forums for flashlight enthusiasts. This flashlight is fantastic, especially for the money. The fit and finish, the UI, the ridiculous brightness, all exceeded my expectations. This is not a light for just anyone though, if you are buying it for yourself or giving it as a gift, make sure you or whoever you give it to know how to handle it. It can burn paper (or your pants) on turbo mode.I had seen this light being discussed on a website and read reviews a few weeks before purchasing, but did not think I would like it. The ability to customize settings, the wide variety of different modes, lockouts, strobes, etc. all seemed neat, but it also seemed very complicated. I pulled the trigger anyway and do not regret doing so.Fit and Finish: Clean, elegant lines. Consistent anodizing. Buttery smooth threads. The simplicity of the body design is really nice to look at. Good aesthetic. At first I thought the smooth body might be hard to maintain a good grip on, but the knurling under the bezel and near the tail keep it plenty grippy. What I really like is the raised tail cap. It acts similar to the "tactical ring" you see on some flashlights that acts as an anchor so you can hold it between your fingers (see my picture). I hold the light like this most often, especially when walking the dog because I can hold her leash and the light with the same hand. I'm used to carrying smaller lights, but this was very comfortable in my front pocket, even when out hiking.UI: It seems daunting at first, but once you figure out how to navigate it it's surprisingly intuitive. At first I figured I'd never use the lockout or "muggle mode", until I nearly burnt my pants when it clicked into turbo after I got in my wife's car. Now I use both mode regularly for everyday use and carry. The various strobes are neat (lightning storm and candle mode!), and the tactical strobe is legitimately disorienting. Turbo is easy to get to with two clicks. I haven't configured the thermal settings, but the default seems fine for my usage. I thought I would like the stepped brightness levels over the ramped, but the ramping is smooth and intuitive. Battery check is a great feature as well.Brightness/runtime: Turbo mode is nuts. I don't know how else to describe that much light coming out of something that can fit in your pocket, and running off a single 18650. It does heat up pretty quick in turbo, but the thermal regulation drops it down before it can harm the light or the battery, and the body doesn't get hot enough during that time to be too hot to hold. On high it gets slightly warm, but nothing even close to hot, despite it still being super bright. I had it at down lower at about 200ish lumens for the majority of a 45 minute walk the other night and it never changed temperature. My dog got spooked and stared at a treeline about 75 yards away, and when I flashed the turbo in that direction it lit up the treeline with ease. There was no obvious beam spot, but the flood at that distance was still impressive. I performed a battery check after the walk and the battery was still testing at the same 4.1 as it was at the start of the walk. I was surprised at how well it maintained its charge.Overall I was very impressed with this light. It sees as much if not more time in my pocket than my Olight S1R II that I was carrying before this came. I will probably get another FW3A, something in the 4000k temperature range with higher CRI, but am more than pleased with this one.

A dangerous toy that burns you. Returned the damn thing day I received it.
I was so excited to get this light. That excitement lasted for about 2 minutes of trying to use the myriad number of lighting levels and affects.First off, the threading on the caps are relatively crude and can be easily misaligned. The threads are not squared and will get damaged if not careful when changing batteries. There is no hole or attachment point to attach a wrist strapThis torch gets STUPID hot in mere seconds at high settings. All powerful lights do, but this has such a short body, there is no where for your hands and fingers to hide. I have several 18650 torches, so while hot is not new, not being able to hold the light without gloves is new. There are no cooling fins so you may want to grab a smoke while the light cools down. The instructions are confusing at best. With so many built in options you can click, click, click your way into God knows what setting. I locked myself out and/or could not get out of the many settings. I do not feel like dedicating hours to learning how to use a flashlight!I cannot see this light surviving a fall to any hard surface. The POTENTIALLY good features are many, the interface is what destroys the possibilities with this light. Or is it simply the lack of a usable instruction/users manual? Also, I know why they use an unprotected battery, but most people who use good quality torches, use PROTECTED 18650 batteries. They are more common and safer. I was willing to live with this since I was going to use the light for its lightning mode (for Halloween) and candle mode. This needs a serious redesign to take advantage of the interface. Not being able actually hold the torch in your hand while you use it, kinda takes away from the functionality of a hand held light.I really like and support Lumintop, but this light needs to go away. This light is for torch geeks who will not being this for serious usage.Very good try but back to the drawing board.

If you can't afford $20 more, this might be OK
It's not that was it was awful. Just that if you've handled Fenix, Olight, even Nitecore and Thrunite, this is not going to seem worth the price to you. When I first got it, it wouldn't turn on. There's a thing in the box saying not to unscrew the tailcap. Contacted manufacturer (amazon product support had no idea how to help), and they said to take off the tail cap, insert the battery, and tighten the tail cap all hard. Well that sounds normal, except the directions say to leave tailcap alone, remove head and insert through there. I did what they said, and it worked. It's nice to have a tailcap, but it's probably not what some are thinking from the description. Momentary modes are available, but in that mode you can ONLY have momentary. In constant on modes, there is no momentary. If you have anything on your hip, and the light clipped on pants pocket on the same side, it will absolutely turn on. That's easy to work around, just put it somewhere else. After about a week, the button decided it would only work sometimes. Then the next day it was working normally again. From that point on, it functioned like it should. If you get this, you need unprotected, flat top, 18650 batteries. I already had a couple so not a big deal for me. This will not take your protected Olight, Fenix batteries. They are too long.It worked OK, overall. Seems a bit gimmicky. The candle light and thunderstorm modes are neat for 1-2 times messing with it. Then you realize there is 0 use for those modes. If you have a few more dollars, I'd go with Fenix, Olight, or really Zebralight. May not have the same max output, but those turbo modes aren't for long use anyhow in lights this size. With the mentioned brands it's 2-4 minutes. With FW3A it's at most 1 minute before it burns your hand off.
