The Metamorphosis and Other Stories

Having used the translation of Die Verwandlung for my dissertation, I found it to be an exceedingly interesting translation. Moncrieff writes in such a way as to bring out a new side to Kafka that one tends not to see in other translations.A really fantastic selection of work from a fascinating translator!

One of the finest pieces of Literature

The worst translation Of Kafka I've read. I had to stop reading not even halfway through. The implications and particular beautiful moments that appear in various ways in all the other translations I've read are missing or completely stilted here. If this was the first introduction to Kafka I had had, I probably would have never read anymore of him, and never have come to love his works like I do. Sorry to say this, but stay away from this translation, but please read all the Kafka you can!
