If you're just starting out. This is the one.
I purchased a few of these pens as I wanted to start getting back into writing fancy for a hobby. This is about the cheapest one I got, but is the smoothest writing. This pen is very ergonomic, and easy to hold. This comes with one blue ink cartridge, and a converter. I highly suggest using the converter and purchase ink separately.Very very pleased with this purchase.

Love this
I usually buy fine-tipped fountain pens, and I am usually disappointed when I try them on cheap paper. This was my first try at a calligraphic tip, and I love it. Writes just fine on coarse drawing paper, and leaves a good line.It is too long to clip into an average pocket, but it's not designed for that. It is well-suited to its purpose.I like the contrast of the red clip against the black lid.BTW, I bought this with the intention of swapping out the lid with a black LAMY Safari, but the texture of the black plastic is different between the two (the Safari is a matte finish, the Joy is shiny) so I just left it.

A Lamy is a Lamy
Great quality, love the long handle. Swap nib and use for sketching.

Luxurious
I love fountain pens, and I own several Lamy pens. This is a wider nib version with an elegant long black and red barrel. Definitely a pleasure to write with. It feels like I’m doing calligraphy and it somehow makes me write more slowly because it’s such a pleasure. My only (minor) criticism of this model is that the top does not stay on when you flip it onto the pointy tail end while writing.

Great calligraphy pen
Very nice pen! Writes extremely smooth on correct papers. I got the 1.1 tip which doesn't have a very pronounced line thickness, but is perfect for the small writing I prefer. This is a great note taking, letter writing, etc pen for how light the body is, finger grip shape angles, and so on. If you want big flourishes go with a larger nib.
