California Air Tools CAT-AUX05A Lightweight Portable Aluminum Air Tank, 5 Gallon, Silver

When I picked the box up from the porch, I knew that I'd be glad that I bought this tank. I've owned steel air tanks in the past, and while I did expect this one to be lighter than them, I was surprised just how much so. Another pleasant surprise was the additional stabilizer on the bottom of the tank. Rather than having only one, as shown in the first five photos, there were two, as shown in the sixth photo of the tank near a compressor. I did quick leak test--admittedly for only a few hours--but the pressure was still there with no loss. Also, I like the form factor: longer and smaller in diameter than typical tanks of similar capacity. This is my second purchase of a California Air Tools product, and it probably won't be my last.

So far, this is a fantastic tank. Being made out of aluminum it’s dramatically lighter and easier to casually throw around and bring from place to place. The shipping box it came in, was well packed, extra thick cardboard with straps and plenty of foam reinforcements. I’ve seen some complaints about the quality of the brass fittings. They do look kind of thin walled. I’ve been trying hard to not bump them very hard since that three-way contraption sticks out quite a bit. Even if I do end up, breaking the weakest looking tee fitting off, it’s just standard 1/4”fittings, everything except the on/off, Schrader, pressure, relief, gauge all in one manifold and it actually looks pretty well made.

met my expectations just fine. I wish in a way I had got the aluminum rather than the steel for the light weight but I guess the steel will hold up longer. works just like it is suppose to. filled it with 100lbs of air , brought it home and pumped up both bike tires . no problem. It's all steel so the most that could go wrong is with the fittings and they can be replaced. Soooo, all is good. thanks
