Clear Instructions & Well Made Bed Frame
Recently we were in the market for a new mattress......between Black Friday and Cyber Monday we were seeing some great deals, so we popped on a new King. But we also needed a frame, and I was not about to pay the $400 and up for a King frame from the Mattress company. As I scrolled Amazon I found this Zinus Mia Modern Studio 14 Inch Platform 1500H Metal Bed Frame With Headboard, King size. I liked the clean look it had, but I really liked that price tag! Under $200. So I popped on that as well.Today my mattress is arriving so that means it is time to assemble the frame.Right away I noticed how well the items were packaged. Besides the foam pads between the metal pieces, each Item was individually wrapped to prevent any chipping or damage done in transport. It also included A hello note, clearly marked screws, simple instructions and a little wrench. (Image 1-3)*TIP 1) Lay the whole frame out and sort as shown. This made for a quick assembly..and leave those stickers on...it will make for fast reassembly if need to move it!When opening the instruction I found a very simple layout of the frame along with clear markings of what parts where needed to assemble what. There are stickers located on each item, and the screws in the packaging are also clearly marked. (Image 4-6) You will also notice that the screw holes (Image 7) have a nice solid thread for the screws to catch to attach each component. Very impressed with some of the small details and the clean welds.*TIP 2) The handy dandy wrench is great for the awkward spots, to make it function perfect just hold the end nob and you turn it, if it clicks just push the tiny lever under the head, it will then be set to tighten. (Image 8)Once you get to the side rails, make sure you have the Velcro side up! This is what the slats will attach to once the frame is complete. Ours had no sticker indicators, But using the velcro and photo in the instructions, it was easy to tell which side goes where.TIP 3) When attaching the middle rail, follow the instructions and attach the leg first, this will make it easier to attach tot the frame. (Image 9)Once you have the frame fully assembled you can now attach the wood slats. These come in two sections and then are attached by a long secure strip of Velcro and staples, like a big accordion. Once you have them fully opened you can see which side needs to be upright. There will also be two slats that have a film to be removed to help prevent the mattress from sliding. Nice thinking! (Image 10-11)TIP 4) MAKE SURE to start the slats where the velcro starts on the frame. If you follow this you will then have the correct spacing between the two sections. I started at the very bottom of the frame, which gave me a crazy space, I then figured out the velcro is your guide on where to start. My total build time, with taking pictures and a few random text messages to the wife with the progress...Less than an hour and a half!My overall rating is 5 stars. My Amazon freight drivers where great with delivery and on time! The frame came well packagedAll the components are clearly marked and wrapped with extra care made it a very simple build. No Tools are needed! The frame is extremely well built for the price tag.Once assembled the frame feels extremely secure and looks great. They even send extra parts (Image 12)I think this was a great buy, and will work with most mattresses, like our new Nectar.

High quality, low price, and well thought out construction. A rarity among bed frames.
I read many reviews of the various Zinus bed frames and like most people I was impressed with the wide acclaim but at the same time I was still cautious, wondering what I'd get. Well after receiving it today and putting it together I can say it is indeed an impressive value. It's solid and well made, better made than what you might consider a similar Ikea frame. All of the holes line up, and it is designed in a way to minimize any rubbing of metal that could occur and produce squeak. There is even a strip of rubber material on the center support beam so that if you have a wood slat that is slightly bowed it will not make noise when contacting the beam from your movement. The wood slats are held at perfect spacing as the fabric strap that connects the slats has a strip a velcro on the underside which attaches to velcro on the frame. A smart solution. All of the points of attachment seem to be engineered to be as strong and minimal as possible. The side supports are one long piece- I believe on the upholstered wood frames the sides are split into two. The footer/end piece (the legs and horizontal bar) is one welded piece. The the headboard attaches to the vertical support/legs on each side. Given that the sides are on piece, the box was the length of a queen bed, and about 7 inches thick, and about 18 inches wide.I specifically chose a Zinus with a metal frame and FLAT wood supports. Why? Well compared to the upholstered wood frames these metal framed versions are much lighter weight for the same strength (it takes much more wood to get the equivalent strength of steel). Look for yourself- this frame is 70 lbs, whereas the upholstered wood frames are anywhere from 30-50 lbs heavier. It was a breeze handing the parts of this one while assembling. Now, on to the slats- there are versions of the metal frame that have metal supports instead of wood slats. This will be solid of course and seems good, but with all those metal-on-metal connections there is a higher likelihood you'll eventually get some squeak noises, and indeed this was mentioned by a reviewer of one of the metal+metal frames. There are also some other versions of the metal frame that have CURVED wood slats. Those should also be avoided in my opinion. I guess the purpose is to provide a bit a of spring to your bed, not sure, but having similar curved slats in an Ikea bed before they are terrible, all you get is the sound of the slats hitting the center metal support beam every time you roll over and/or the squeak of the slats rubbing against the frame sides. This is especially true if you have a lighter weight mattress that doesn't help to pre-compress the curved wood much. A heavier mattress mitigates that issue somewhat, but still better to avoid the possibility altogether. The best shot at a noise free, solid (yet not needlessly heavy) frame are these metal + flat wood slat frames, I suggest sticking to one of these variants. There are a few new ones in the Zinus line like this one, but with wood plank headboard and another with upholstered leather or fabric. I like this one a lot. The fabric looks nice, and there's a good squishy 1.5 inches thick foam behind it. Makes it seem higher quality than if the fabric was just stapled to a board. If you are on the fence, I say go for it. It is highly unlikely you'll find anything else like this for the price. Again, my vote is for metal frame versions with flat woods slats.

Love this bedframe
Wow, this bedframe is amazing. This bedframe is super easy to install, it took me under 45 minutes. Very solid, sturdy and looks sleek and expensive. The bedframe has a little weight to it, which is a good thing. You do not need a boxspring. You won’t be disappointed with this purchase I guarantee it.

Lovely frame, nearly perfect
Here is my honest review-the good and the not quite good. It looks great and the components are solid and should support my mattress nicely. That is the most important thing, right?! I like the under bed space as well. That is a positive as well. My only subtractions from absolute perfection are: 1) I think there should be a metal horizontal support beam in the middle with 2 legs on each side of the bed. The bed has a middle leg only but I think two side legs would be better support. I have a zinus full sized frame on another bed and it has the middle support with legs and that just adds to the stability. Since this is a queen bed, I think it needs the extra support bar and legs. Also, the above referenced full sized zinus frame had padding on the legs. That is a must for frames with metal legs that seriously hurt toes. I bought padding separately but if this frame came with padding and the extra legs/support bar it would be absolutely perfection. As it is, I’m happy with it for my guest room that has a very nice, expensive mattress. Oh and last note - directions are just ok. Assembly requires two people and slow assembly. We made two or three mistakes because the directions leave a bit to be desired and we were working fast so put the headboard on backwards etc. If you take your time and can visualize the outcome it’s fine.
