Q: Can you use a different toner, then use this essence secondly? or just use the essence only?

I use the essence as a base on clean skin. I let it dry and follow up with my serum and moisturizer. I don’t use it with toner. Hope this helps! Great product, by the way.

This is definitely not a toner. It's an essence which is typically used after a toner. Toners are for pH restoration after cleansing. An essence can have many uses (this one is good for moisture), but ultimately preps the skin for serum/emulsion use. I would recommend you still use a toner to ensure your skin's pH gets back down to normal.

Q: Can this be used as a "first essence" since it contains fermented ingredients?

I use it right after I cleans my face and after a minute follow with my moisturizer .
