Excellent reference for normal MSKUS anatomy
Excellent reference book on how to perform musculoskeletal ultrasound. Dr. Rawat provides a concise and to the point introduction to musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging and terminology in chapter 1. In the chapters that follow she gives an in-depth explanation of how to use musculoskeletal ultrasound to get a good image of normal anatomical structures. Before a person looks at pathology, it is important to understand what normal anatomy looks like and Dr. Rawat does an excellent job of providing detailed information on capturing high-quality images. This book provides author illustrated drawings of anatomical structures along with (MSKUS) musculoskeletal images that provide references to the actual images examined. Proper patient positioning is documented and ultrasound alignment for the best images. . She notes anatomical position and relationship to other structures. A favorite of mine is the points to remember that she provides on each structure. This may include information on anatomical anomalies, pathological conditions that may be found, best alignment for visualization based on how certain structures position changes based on how they can change planes, situations to compare opposite side, points to assist differential diagnosis and situations that might affect the quality of the image. This is an excellent reference as you are learning and also an excellent reference for the experienced clinician to reference structures that they may not test as often. This is an excellent book for the musculoskeletal ultrasonographer to have in his/her library and I highly recommend it.

Wonderful and Easy to Read Guide
Great book for scanning musculoskeletal regions and includes detail on neuro MSK which is hard to find. Illustrations and pictures are excellent. It's a wonderful reference guide therefore will never get rid of it!

Not bad, but done better elsewhere.
Pros: The labor of love is evident in the pages. The hand drawn pictures are wonderful and it feels like a trusted friend passed you their notebook after anatomy class. It is concise and gives a shot by shot reference that is brief and to the point.Cons: The majority of the book is covered more in depth with pathology in mind in other standard reference texts. The main point of disappointment is that as an Ortho-Neuro specialist Dr. Rawat would have shared her expertise in the specifics of peripheral nerve ultrasound. As it stands, only the 8th chapter is devoted to peripheral sono-neurology.Overall: This is a wonderful book that was made by a fantastic clinician and person. I am still on the fence if it is worth the price tag as there is very little new to someone who has any experience in MSK ultrasound aside from being a quick flip through reference. For someone who is completely new to MSK ultrasound, this is an addition to and not a substitution to your other primary texts. I wish there was more discussion and depth that speaks to the author's expertise.
