Decent, albeit thin and undersized jersey
I am a regular bike commuter, putting in anywhere from 40 to 200 miles a week on a bike. My favorite seasons to ride are those of Fall and Winter, so I am always on the lookout for new long sleeve jerseys. Not having much hope in this one, as I have learned to stick with fancier brand cycling garb (especially for the all important bibshorts), it was worth a try.First thing I noticed was how light the jersey felt in its bag, which was a sign of just how thin it runs. Not a negative, just something to keep in mind. It also had a strong chemical odor to it, which one gentle cold water wash helped to reduce but not remove (I do have a sensitive nose). I wore it after washing and did not have a reaction to whatever the smell was, and one more wash pretty much removed the smell.Back to the thin fabric; this is definitely not a cold weather jersey. For me it was good down into the low 50's (F), as I tend to run hot. For those of more normal body temperature, it would probably be best down into the high 50's. I could still feel the cooling of the wind, which is a nice feature when you perspire like mad.As for construction, there was one loose thread, but the stitching looks and feels solid, with no rough edges felt (a worry in lower priced jerseys) and the fabris does not reek too bad from sweat, although I tend to rinse my gear on my return home shower if there is not a full load of dainties to wash. The jersey is definitely undersized, with my normal size being XL. This is a common trend with cycling gear, so be sure to order up a size (I went with XXL).The rear pockets are deep and sit up higher on the jersey than all my other jerseys. This was the most annoying thing about the jersey, in that I kept reaching for pockets that normally sit lower. Coupled with the undersizing, I am deducting one star, but otherwise find it to be a decent jersey.

Really high, deep pockets
I really like the fabric of this jersey. It's soft and stretchy so it's quite comfortable. It a breathable fabric, and doesnt block as much wind as I would like from a long sleeve jersey. I think perhaps the idea is that you'd wear a cycling jacket for wind resistance.I'm 6' tall, about 220 lbs with a 35-36" waist. The XL jersey just fits me. I could probably have gone with the XXL and been fine, but the sleeve length on the XL just reached my hands so there's no bunching or gap.Aside from a slight lack of wind resistance I knocked off a star for the enormous back pockets. It's nice that they're spacious and fairly secure, but the opening is so high that I find them difficult to get into. It's not impossible, but it definitely takes some effort to maneuver my arms to reach inside.I do have one other area of concern with this jersey... The color. The black and white coloring is nice looking, but the white is not reflective. There is only one small stripe of reflective material on the back and a tiny hash on the left side. This doesn't seem like enough to me. The stripes on the arms or a couple more reflective stripes somewhere seem needed, but again maybe they're assuming you'll have a cycling jack with that?Had the pockets been easier to get into and there were more light reactive surfaces (like the white stripes on the arms) I would have given this jersey 5 stars...

Nice cycling shirt
I got this for running, an exercise routine I took up in the Spring. Now that the days I shorter and the air is cooler, wanted something with long sleeves that I could wear, and stay warmer than I would in a t-shirt. This mostly delivers. Its cycling pedigree is obvious. It's quite snug, and the only pockets are on the back--three pouches with elastic bands at the top (I'm not a cyclist, and I don't know what a cyclist would want to put in those pouches other than water bottles--maybe a wallet and keys? But no zipper for precious cargo). The jersey is comfortable to wear, with a full-zip front with the zipper on the left--the opposite of what is typical for American menswear. There are a few bits of reflective material (a stripe on the back, and a tiny logo on the lower left front). The white stripes on the sleeves are, sadly, not reflective. There's also a strip of what feels like silicone across the inside rear at the hemline, which helps keep the shirt from crawling up the back.I like the shirt; it's comfortable and great for running. I sort of wish it had a chest pocket (or inside pocket) for a phone, however.

Too wimpy for barely cold weather
This Amazon Essentials long sleeve bike jersey is best in the late spring and early fall when temps are above 65F degree (18C). Below that your shoulder and arms get a bit cold when riding through some shade and wind. I would wear some tight base layer underneath for additional warmth for weather below 60F degree (16.5C).I wear a large t-shirts or a 42 suit jacket. The large size fits me perfectly in both body width length and especially arm length. However this jersey is very thin. The back pockets are extremely high, I guess for tall water bottles or something. There is elastic on the waistband which is great so the jersey doesn't ride up. The zipper has a built in cover so the zipper pull never touches your chin. The zipper ipull s the opposite side than what US men are accustomed and it bugs me. The reflective white is effective while keeping the jersey very conservative and stylishly black but basic, which was what I wanted.I'm really needing something for 40-50F degree riding that also has zippered pockets and streamlined aerodynamics. I'm leaning on a track suit top as the next alternative.
