Does what I want it to do
First off, I am glad I got this when I did in red as the price went way up now. So watch those price fluctuations.I have had it for about 2 weeks now and used all the options on it. I can't speak to how it will hold up long term as its much to early for that.I did get another tamper as some have suggested and it works better for me. But I think the one that comes with it can also work. I just needed something to grab onto better.I was looking around and comparing machines. I ended up getting this Mr. Coffee for a couple of reasons. I cannot afford an expensive espresso machine and in the entry level market, I think they are all about the same with the 15 bar pumps. So I was looking at those with steamwands and this one. I wanted a machine I can make cappuccinos with and maybe lattes and cortados. The reason I settled on this one instead of one with a wand is the amount of milk used. I am the only one that makes milk based drinks and with a wand, one has to put a certain amount in a separate container and that milk is then used up. With this machine, it only dispenses what you need. So if I make a small cappuccino or a cortado, it uses not very much milk. And the rest of the milk stays fresh and untouched and goes back in the fridge. Its less wasteful for my uses I believe. For a cortado for example, I make so little milk that it would not work with a wand. You have to put in to a certain level on those. Its also nice not having to fiddle with a wand and just pressing a button and it does it all for you.I have a good grinder already as I also use other methods of making coffee still. Aeropress, pourover, etc. I got this for making milk drinks mostly. So I use fresh whole beans for this just like I do for my other methods. My husband likes the bustelo I got so I could get the espresso grind just right on my grinder. When I first got it I did the priming which too 3 tries. Then I did the vinegar cleanse as I saw one reviewer describe. Can't hurt to get all the factory oils and grime out of the pipes in any case. After that I played with the weight and grind. I always weigh my beans and I can fit 7 grams in the small holder and 14 grams in the large. That works out best for me. I had a few were I either tamped too hard or had a too fine grind and nothing came out. Just stop the machine and go courser or don't tamp so hard. You can either let the machine do it all with one button press, or you can make a espresso first, do the manual milk in a separate container and then pour it over the espresso. I do that when I make cortados. That way you can swirl the milk and have less bubbles in it. So you can easily make froth to put on top of hot chocolate. I made some to put in my Pero drink, which is a grain based non coffee drink.Besides the presets there are manual options for the espresso, so if you want you can hold the button down and it puts up to 5 ounce of extra on the shot. I suppose to can hit it twice and make a larger cup. But I prefer to make americanos. Make the espresso and then pour hot water over it from the kettle. It does work though holding the espresso button if that is what you prefer to get the hot water that way. The other manual button is the froth, which you also activate by holding the button for 3 seconds. Just be careful to watch that as it just keeps coming out for like 30 seconds. I walked away the first time and my big mug overflowed like crazy. Just hit the button again to make it stop.So its pretty flexible outside of the presets. It cleans quite easy. I always run a cleaning cycle through the milk wand. It takes 30 seconds and at the same time I clean the portafilter. That is pretty much it. Wipe the wand and put the milk container back in the fridge. And from time to time I run a empty portafilter to clean out the grinds from underneath and wipe around a bit.It does what I wanted it to do. I still have my pour over coffees or my aeropress, but I like to have a couple of milk based drinks during the day. When I get really fancy I put some syrups in it. I like the sugar free Monin ones for that.I also got me a knockbox for all the grinds. I don't really want to smack it on my garbage can and I don't want to put them in the sink. Works great.

Beyond my expectations ! Working perfect after 39 months (3Y3M)
#UPDATE JAN 2023After 6 years, my Mr.Coffee espresso machine was still working and now is gone, BUT, not because any issue with the machine. Long story short, Dez 2022 we had that snowstorm in Buffalo, NY and my backyard door was blown by the snow while me and my wife were in a trip. Snow everywhere inside my house, broken pipe, etc and the cold damaged both my Mr Coffee espresso machine and my Nespresso. It seems that the water inside the pump got frozen and damaged the coffee machine. My insurance paid for a new one and I bought again the same espresso machine, but now with a steel front panel instead of the white.#UPDATE Nov 2022Well, more than 5 years after, my Mr Coffee espresso machine is still working great. Not a single issue so far.Important: I keep using ONLY distilled water. So it keeps the machine clean from mineral elements. I don't need to use any kind of cleaner.#UPDATE: Mar 2020 - Almost 3 years and 3 months (39 months) later, my Mr Coffee BVMC-ECMP1102 works perfectly. No problem so far. Very sure I will buy another one when this one breaks. I hope it won't be soon. I enjoy so much this machine since the beginning. Don't forget to check my tips down on my review. Carlos, Williamsville,NYUpdate Aug 17th 2019 - 2 years and 7 months later - Working perfectly! I still love this machine and use it every single day, usually, more than once. Check my tips to keep it working for this long.Update Jul 24th 2018 - Almost 18 months, it still works perfectly. If it breaks, I would buy another one. Check below the secrets to keep it always new.Update Mar 9th 2018 - After 13 months I'm still in love to our Mr. Coffee Espresso Machine. My wife also loves it. We have been using it every single day, at least 2 times a day, sometimes up to 6 times.TIPS & SECRETS ==========================Here are some SECRETS to keep your machine working, lasting longer and having more fun.1- Use DISTILLED WATER to make coffee. Spring water is worst than water from your sink tap. More minerals on water, more metal residues on machine parts that will cause damage. Distilled water has no minerals. You can find it in a good grocery store. I buy mines on Wegmans.2- CLEAN it. Always. Use the clean function after using froth milk, clean the water tank. Small milk of any other residues can damage any espresso machine within time.>>>update: It happened to me that the coffee was not coming out and overflowing the grind coffee support. It was a mess, BUT, after a few times, I found out that it's also about cleaning. If you make a coffee and don't clean and use for a few days, especially in a dry weather/ar conditioning, the coffee inside the coffee filter gets stuck and hard to clean (I mean, inside you can't see. Spray some strong cleaner on it and let it under very hot water for some time. Repeat if necessary. This can happen with any espresso machine.3- Make MOCHA out of it, it's awesome. A good Chocolate syrup, whipping cream, added to the regular Cappucino. Cocoa power and some cinnamon powder.4- Godiva's Chocolate liqueur on a cappuccino will add nice taste for hot weather.5- Use the froth milk to make a fantastic Hot Chocolate, but before warm the cup and drop a square of a good dark chocolate on it.6- Espresso is supposed to be very hot in temperature. Always warm the cup with boiling water if possible.Update APR 5th - After almost 2 months It works perfectly, I simply love this Espresso Machine. The automatic milk foam feature is fantastic. I've bought cocoa powder, cinnamon powder, Hersheys Dark Chocolate Syrup, Godiva Cocoa Liquor and Whipped Cream to make some awesome special coffees.FEB 9th 2017 - Loved ! I had a few Espresso Machines and decided for this after my older one burned on my fault. I just loved this machine, specially considering its price. Good espresso quality ! The Cappuccino and Latte features are awesome. Just the froth milk is a little bit watered. I make awesome mocha with it too. Really beyond my expectations. Let's nee its durability. Will be back to this review in 4 or 6 months. Feb/2017

4+ Year Update
December 2023: We purchased this espresso maker back in October 2018 and here we are coming up on 2023 still using the same machine. Pretty sweet for the $100 or whatever we paid for it. It’s lost a little bit of its efficiency over the years but it still makes a great latte and is reliable. We went back and forth on machines - I really wanted one of the expensive Sur La Table or whatever espresso machines and my husband said we should try this one first to see if we even will use or like having a machine. Long story short, we love it.The only issue we have is that where we used to be able to make a double latte in one mug, we now have to make it in stages because the frothing has gotten a little aggressive and overflows the cup. Not a huge deal to us. But it happens over time. Out of the box it was flawless for probably 2 years. We use this 1-3 times per day to make 1-3 lattes. So over the years we can estimate that we have made over 2,000 lattes in this machine. So, go ahead and buy it.Update 3/18/23: so we thought this was the end. Nope. Just needed a thorough cleaning. Good as new.

User friendly, but having some issues after 9+ months use.
I've owned this machine for nearly a year now and overall I really do like it.Pros:-- It's simple/easy to use. (That's a big pro to me). I'm not a barista. I have 2 young kids and needed something quick and easy.-- It's compact. It doesn't take up much counter space.-- The water reservoir holds quite a lot and is easy to remove/refill.-- Easy to clean. Milk container and lid are dishwasher safe (though it does not specifically say if the silicone "straw" attachment is, so I've washed that by hand.Cons:-- It's quite loud, but I'm not sure there is such a thing as a quiet espresso machine.-- The space that holds your mug is too small. In order to make a small sized latte, you need a decent sized mug to avoid overflowing. If I wanted a large latte, the space provided is not big enough to be able to use a mug large enough that it wouldn't overflow. A large mug may fit under the brew head/porta filter just fine, but the milk dispensing tube will not fit/be able to aim into your mug properly.-- The silicone "straw" that attaches inside the milk reservoir is incredibly easy to LOSE. It's small, clear, and can easily go down a kitchen drain. Just a heads up. I've gotten lucky with it so far. I wish it had come with 2 or 3 of them as I'm sure I'm not the only one who has had issues with that.-- At some point a couple months ago, I started experiencing what others had posted about the milk not frothing properly. It has been touch and go ever since. I cleaned the entire machine, thoroughly washed the milk reservoir and it's parts, etc. and it seemed to froth properly for a while but some days it has a mind of its own and comes out watery again and I'm not sure what is making that happen. That has been the only true disappointing thing as I can't figure out how to fix it. The milk just spits out watery and then the latte isn't thick and creamy like it should be. I've cleaned the milk reservoir by using the "clean" feature on the machine, I've taken it out and washed it thoroughly, I've scrubbed around all pieces on the machine that may affect it, etc. and some days it froths and some days it doesn't. I have thoroughly enjoyed this machine up until this point... it doesn't get much more simple than this with an espresso machine, but I wish there were clear instructions on what to do if this happens as it seems to be a common issue.

Love This Product
I ordered this product to be delivered to our new home on the day we moved in. We have now been in our home for six years and I have used my Mr Coffee Cafe Barista almost every day and it is still going strong! A couple of the parts probably need replacing, but it still makes delicious coffee regardless! One of the best products I have ever bought.
