These are ok. They cut thin cables. I was able to use them to chew through a 1/0 cable a few times, but it absolutely killed my hands. I’d say anything 2 awg and lighter and these will work fine. If you need to do a lot of cuts of heavier stuff you’ll want bolt-style cutters, but for the majority of wiring, these will get you by. The grips are trash, they spin and slide all over, so just take them off.

I'm one of the view certified tower climbers in my area that is also a ham. This past weekend I helped install a veritical HF antenna for the local VA ham club. Used these cutters to cut the LMR-400 coaxial. Sure made it easy to cut the coxal, nice and clean.I would highly recommend these cutters to cut medium to large coaxial.

Don't know how they hold up to steel wire, I'm using them for 2 AWG copper welding cable. Slices easily and (more importantly) very cleanly with no smashing of the wire.
