I am a little confused, do all of the leads go in at one time, or does it just have one chamber for the lead?

Each colored lead is in its own chamber and one lead at a time is selected to be dropped down into the writing chamber. You simply rotate the clip to your desired color and push the end cap to drop it down. Be careful to hold the pencil upside down to clear the chamber and while selecting a new color. Otherwise the lead will get stuck and jam the pencil.

Question 2

What is the difference between the Pentel PH 158, 158BC, and 158BP ? (besides a slight difference in cost)

The pens you ask about work the same.  Looking at the lead colors, it seems there is not any difference except price.  I own three now.  I've also bought extra leads in the colors I want.  I use one pentel multi pencil for sketching when I haven't my watercolors with me or I'm in a museum.  The other two I have divided with warm colors in one pen and cool colors in the other pen.  These I have with me all the time in case I'm asked for a thumbnail rough draft of suggested colors for interior or exterior buildings, clothing or designs when I don't have my entire set of colored pencils with me to demonstrate to a client the possibilities I see.  They are very convenient for that.   I use something else (similar to a crayon) for my scriptures, since the pages are so thin.

Question 3

How does coloring with this compare to coloring w/ traditional colored pencils? (softness of lead,ease of color transfer,...)

Considering that you'll be using leads instead of a full pencil I wouldn't suggest coloring with it. You see colored leads for mechanical pencils are kind of expensive. These leads will run out much faster if used for coloring. Sketching and drawing with the pencil would be a great use of it. You could do lines for objects in the foreground in one color and background objects in another color or differentiate parts of what you're creating with different colors.

Question 4

Hello.  I have seen this described as a "drawing crayon".  Does this actually have a crayon texture?

This has leads which really are more like colored pencil leads.  The texture is softer then a drawing pencil, but definitely harder than a crayon.  Still, it would be difficult to write with these leads like a pencil, and it probably is best used for highlighting, or checking papers, which is how I use it.  Some colors are a little harder, like the brown, but other than brief notes, not a first choice as a writing pencil.
