Forney isn't what it use to be
Upon initial inspection of pliers, the pliers had very pronounced sharp burr on all sides. I took a small file and rounded the burr smooth.. I also took my diamond file 400 grit with 100 strokes to each side of the side cutter then with 600 grit with 35 strokes each side finished sharpening. Took me about 20-25 mins. To make the pliers decent. Shouldn't have to do such thing but seems its becoming the rule instead of exception. Forney was a name in welding you could be assured quality..

Forney Mig wire pliers
I purchased this product because it was made in the good ole USA but I was kinda disappointed in it when I first used it. The finish on it is kinda rough and when I tried to cut .030 mig wire, it wouldn't do it. I had to take a small file to the cutting edges to sharpen them up to make it work right. Quality control seems to be a problem.

2 Months of Everyday Usage
Not as good as the Pearson brand. The wire cutter blades went dull after just a couple months on the job and they were and everyday necessity. Eventually, just invested my money with the better brand and went with Pearson.

Ok but not great
I was disappointed in these. They would barely cut welding wire even when you twist them back and forth. I returned them and bought a pair of Lincoln for a dollar more and they are great. You could take the time to sharpen them yourself I guess but you shouldn't have to.

fast and cheap
fast and cheap pliers for entry level welder..experienced welders would want to get lincolns or something like that.. but for students of hobby these were the cheapest I could find!

Forney mig pliers 85801
For the price these pliers are great . I use them at work and they will last a long time. The plastic handles slide around a little bit that is not a big deal .

Made in China
I'm kind of disappointrd that my copy of this set of MIG pliers, received today from amazon, was made in China not USA as others have reported. That said, this tool appears to made the way one would expect an inexpensive tool. Casting is clean and the machined surfaces fit well when closed. Not perfect, but well enough for the price.

Too much play in the jaws
Took ages to come, melted the handles within a month and there is play between the two jaws.

Won’t cut wire.
The cutters aren’t ground properly so they don’t fully cut through the wire.
