Great recipes for celiacs.
Jules’s products are the best…especially her flour. These recipes work great with her flour and are perfect for celiacs.

Worth the cost
My main concern with purchasing this book was whether or not it would be worth it after having several of Jules's books already. It is. I have Nearly Normal Gluten Free Cooking as well as several of the item-specific (breads, cookies--whatever came in the "Beginner's" package)ones. She puts a lot of recipes online. Too be sure, some are duplicates, but in the area of breads and desserts, this book has much more. It also gives more specific suggestions on substitutions which helps me trying to bake for a gluten-free vegan. I have found some really good recipes online from a variety of sources--and some really disastrous ones. For yeast breads, Jules is the winner (just ask my husband who was forced to go gluten-free with us!), and I'm purchasing her flour just for yeast breads. My son does like the gum-free Farm Bread recipe I found online. I don't use her mix for that. I can use other mixes and almond flour to make most recipes, but for yeast bread, this is number 1. I will try her suggested homemade mix which you can find at her blog so you don't need the book for that; however, I don't think it will be as good as her "store-bought" blend for our (well, my husband's) personal taste. On a final note, my husband and I need to watch caloric intake closely. Jules mix is the lowest calorie wheat alternative I could find or make. Her recipes also come out to very reasonable numbers. She gives solid suggestions for sugar substitutes, and her use of fats is conservative but tasty.Loss of one-star: the book (unlike some she sells at her site) does not provide nutritional information. Most don't, though. Also, pictures would be nice.EDIT: I just found some pictures between sections!

Good Enough to Eat
This book sure looks to be covering all the bases. It starts out with lists, one of the most important, especially for newbies is the Foods To Avoid Like the Plague list. Okay I added the plague part. She goes on to give ideas for food replacements. I especially appreciated the several pages of egg replacers. She not only tells you what to use but how and which recipes they work best with.I'm very impressed with the new flour recipe on page 8. I myself have many food allergies and this particular mix is one I can easily work with and around. Then she goes on to give recipes for soups and entrees as well. Okay so maybe that isn't rocket science but when you're new to all this and worried you might poison your kid it sure is a relief to just turn the page. Also very helpful is that each recipe ends with a list of icons indicating at a glance what foods it is free of including whether or not it is vegan.I myself am not new to the gluten free lifestyle but having so many food issues it is almost impossible for me to use a GF, vegan or any other kind of cookbook without going totally nuts with all the substitutions. These foods are expensive and time consuming. Wouldn't it have been great to have had this resource when I first started? You bet your boots!

5yr old Celiac daughter + 1 who is not
I have been searching for recipes and books that will help me create food that taste like food for my 5 yr old Celiac daughter and her twin sister (who does not have Celiac's). This book did it! We ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT! The recipes are easy to follow and turn out wonderfully! My 5 yr old doesn't feel like she is missing out any more. AND her twin can't tell the difference either. The best part it, they are recipes the kids can help make too. :)I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is newly gluten-free, or who is looking for some great new recipes to try. I tabbed my copy from the library book so much that I finally had to buy it! It is a must have book for all those looking for great gluten-free food!

Worth re-purchasing
Love this book. My original copy got ruined, so I was happy to replace with this used copy. The recipes are easy to follow and delicious, especially if you are a fan of Jules' flour.

Best Cookbook I've Found
Many people today are dealing with multiple food allergies and are in dire need for a jump-start in learning what products to shop for and how to substitute ingredients in recipes for items which they can no longer tolerate. This is absolutely the best cookbook I've found to accomplish this. I've spent a great deal of money for magazines and cookbooks that focus on one specific allergy concern; gluten-free only or dairy-free only, but nothing that was all-encompassing. I highly recommend this book for everyone, but especially for beginner food allergy sufferers.

Not what I hoped for
I really wanted to like this book! I can't have soy, dairy or eggs, so the idea of a book with substitutions to suit everyone's needs sounded great. But I made the lemon poppyseed muffins and they came out dense, chewy and really lacking lemon flavor. I've been using Cybele Pascal's cookbooks and hers seems to have a much better flour blend, and all the recipes are truly allergen-free. The baked goods in her books taste like regular bakery items, and my family never noticed a difference. But these are like the GF baking mixes from the store-gummy and heavy. Some of the main meal ideas sound good, but things like lentil soup and guacamole really are no-brainers when it comes to allergen-free cooking, so I didn't need more of the same recipes. Also, not all of the recipes can be modified for all the allergens. Some of the substitutions for dairy call for soy-based products. If your issue is just gluten and dairy OR eggs OR soy, you may have better luck. Great idea, but this one didn't really work for me.

great recipes
I ordered this book because of a free recipe I found on line for gluten free bread. It is filled with great recipes. I can't find the flour they use, but they give a recipe to make up your own flour blend. It worked just fine and everyone loved it, even members of the family that eat gluten.book was in perfect shape, now I don't remember if I bought a used book or new. but it was in perfect condition. It arrived here so fast, faster than expected.
