Carib SeaACS05839 Super Natural Sunset Gold Sand for Aquarium, 5-Pound

This was a small bag but well worth it, currently winter where I am so going to the local dunes for plant sand was out and I needed to transplant some indoor plants but we all know potting soil has those dreaded fungus gnats so I put sand over all of my potting soil and decided to give this sand a shot! It worked! It looks great and no ill effects on the plants and no chance of contaminating my beloved orchids (few feet from my house plants)with pest!I did however, out of habit wash the remaining sand just in case and used it in my fish tank, works well and the fish love their new spa corner lol.I will totally be purchasing more of this sand again!

The sand is very soft and it has the color of sand in a creek stream or brown water beach. Very pleasant to look at, and it goes well with darker substrates like Fluval Shrimp or Flourite Dark. I did rinse it a little bit, the tank still got cloudy but was cleaned up quickly by the filter.

Seems just as nice as the caribsea brand. Rinse well. Add water to the side and you'll be fine. It comes with a packet of bacteria. I used it in a new tank and had a bacteria bloom so it's definitely live bacteria 👍🏼

I was skeptical about buying sand for my aquarium. I’ve always heard that it’s difficult to deal with and makes your water cloudy.After some time with it, that’s not the case at all! It’s great, it does take a couple rinses to wash out any excess dust or dirt but it holds up very well. The Ph doesn’t change and the water is crystal clear. Even if my corys start rustling throw the bottom, the sand floats right back down. Love it, great product.

Bought this before in pure white sand and I love it so I bought golden brown for my betta tank. Haven't set it up yet but will come back for an update.Update:Since the grains of sand is in dusty form it is difficult to clean the aquarium and it goes everywhere even in the filter. Need to be careful when vacuuming the water out of the tank.
