works flawlessly, setup easy, it's a buy
To be simple I used my existing connection to tv, old remote and I'm not using HDMI to my stereo; my tv's older as well.Through my 192khz optical to coaxial converter 5.1 Dolby Digital works fine (kicks in from PCM when movie starts) but DD+ does not. I think it would thru HDMI.HDR wouldn't work on my setup and the Roku feedback said as much even tho I tried forcing it.Otherwise the 2160p 60hz picture works flawlessly and the 5.1 DD is great if possibly a tad softer on some sources (?) but not others. So works great.I had no glitches or problems after testing it all afternoon, and no upgrade/activation problems (I'm an experienced Roku user).I can't speak for the remote and built-in audio function as I'm not using it and don't intend to.Basic function is flawless (set your Roku and tv to Dolby/Auto out) and it works fine with old remote. I'll update if it fails. I say buy. Having cat cable jack for direct wired connection to router is a plus.

DOES NOT COME WITH AN HDMI CABLE; Amazon made good on it.
The Amazon ad for the ROKU Ultra LT clearly states that this unit comes with an HDMI cable. It even shows it in the picture of the box with all of the included items. I feel that ROKU should change their ad to state that an HDMI cable is NOT included. As far as I am concerned ROKU owes me an HDMI cable. That is why I only gave them 3 stars on the review. They are practicing deceptive advertising.Update: Called Amazon and spoke with a CSR. She could not get thru to Roku so she gave me a gift Amazon gift card on my account to purchase the HDMI cable. The box works good and had no probs with hookup and operation. This was a replacement for a really older model Roku. The new one seems to have better video quality.

Okay Upgrade
I really like that the remote has the option to control volume, and also has a power button. It makes the hassle of switching between remotes completely unneeded, and in a way just that makes this worth it. The other buttons for the streaming services are worse for me personally, makes me miss my old remote.Roku works the exact same as my old one, same formatting, no real difference I’ve noticed with video speed or quality. Wasn’t able to transfer the details from my last Roku onto this one using the same account and had to sign back into everything. I honestly can’t say for sure if spending this much on a Roku is worth it. It still works great, and I’m definitely not saying this product is bad in any way, more just that the high price point isn’t worth it when you can about get the same thing for half the price.

Works well for streaming on my second TV, but can’t use headphone jack
This is easy to setup and worked well for my bedroom tv.However, if you plan on using the headphone jack, it burns up the remote batteries in just a few days.I quit using them because I can’t afford to replace the batteries.I actually needed this feature because I’m up all hours during the night and like to watch tv in bed, but I live in a condo which doesn’t have allot of soundproofing between my bedroom and my neighbor…

one great product
I was prepared to send this back. But... after the ease of hooking it up to my tv I was amazed at how fast the start up was. I'm the take back queen when a product don't work for me but this product is amazing. clear picture ease of finding programs and I just love it. Head phones are great and works well.

VERY happy with this device
Love the ability to directly connect ethernet to the device. Also this device has significantly more computing power than the much smaller Roku devices that are wifi only. The system is very responsive and so easy to configure the Roku remote to control my 60' non-smart Samsung TV. Can also plugin headphones directly to the remote, which I have used numerous times and works quite well. Roku is great in that it has very broad access to all the main apps, however we have had pretty negative experiences with the smaller wifi-only devices. VERY glad we gave this model a go, very happy with it

Best choice for technology-challenged persons
I got this for my very elderly mother (92 years old). Her cable provider lost an important channel because it moved to 100% streaming only. She was also paying for several cable boxes and a DVR. So we decided to ditch the cable equipment and move to streaming. After many hours of research and trial and error, we arrived at ROKU. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend ROKU for old people or anyone technologically challenged. Here is why:1) ROKU has lots of free stuff2) The ROKU App eco system is robust and has many offerings3) The ROKU remote is very simple and easy to use4) The ROKU user interface is less complicated (the streaming device from the cable company is terrible)5) ROKU allows you to easily set up what channels are defaulted and which ones to ignore. Customization is easy.So after some training and regular use, my mom is a streaming champ. It is set up with only 3 apps showing on the main user screen. We have a cable company app that I set up to default to MLB baseball, which she loves. So she doesn't have to channel surf to get there. The other apps are easy to navigate and the free ROKU channel has a lot of offerings. So she basically has everything she needs and we ditched all of the old equipment. Some may disagree with me and by all means, if there is a better system for grammy and grandpa, please let me know.
