Genuine Van's!
Really happy with this purchase! Paid half the price and they are genuine Van's, very well made and very comfy. My son is very happy with his new trainers! They also fit as expected! Was a bit worried as some people had mentioned that they weren't genuine etc but I cannot find any flaw with them whatsoever and nothing to indicate that they are fake.

Not the quality I expected
The material seems really cheap and rough compared to my other shop bought Vans. I expected them to be of the same quality as they are basically the same style shoe but different colour. Maybe I was mistaken about them being exactly the same shoe? That said, they look genuine. I have to put insoles in them as I have super narrow feet. That is the same for most shoes I buy so not because of the fit of the shoe. Vans are more for the wider foot anyway I think. Even with an insole I always find them looser than other footwear. The length of the shoe from heal to toe is spot on for the size stated. There is a difference between these kids ones and adult ones.... the laces eyelets are fewer! That seems to be the only difference I've noticed. The Vans I bought from the adult size has 8 sets of lace holes whereas these kid version of the same size has 4 sets and just spaced out more. There is a lettered marking in one of the diamond treads of the soul which is usually how you tell if they are genuine or not, fakes usually don't have it. (Near the toe end)

Excellent Value Comfortable Atwood Vans Trainers
I know Vans produce quality clothing and footwear, made to last and I was confident in purchasing these trainers in a size 5 online. I thought as a skater brand they may be larger than they were, but they are a perfect fit, really soft on the inside and a dark black, unlike a lot of the cheap imitations. As there is such a sale on right now and Margaret Atwood is one of my favourite authors, I couldn't resist paying just £18 for these in the Black Friday Sale and collecting them from an Amazon locker the next day.

Ok
Initially I thought these shoes were good and I was happy with them. However, after reading the reviews, it has confirmed my suspicions. I have many Vans shoes and have never had the problem I will describe. The inside part of the shoe at the heel, deteriorated within a week. It's now a worn away indentation. It looks unsightly. I wear them for work and they're reasonably comfortable. They're the correct size for my feet so have no other explanation for the rapid deterioration in structure, aside from they are not genuine. I have been buying Vans trainers since I was 17 (nearly twenty years) and I have never experienced this. I have purchased from the genuine Vans website since purchasing these. I wear the genuine ones more often than these. No deterioration in condition from the genuine Vans website trainers. You get what you pay for.

Well made, true to size, affordable.
I bought these a couple of years ago for my son when he was getting too old for plimsolls for PE at school. They were a good compromise - much cooler than plimsolls, but much cheaper than trainers. They lasted the twice a week use well before he grew out of them, looking as good as new. I then inherited them (it being that small window when we were both size 3), so the rest of the review is based on my experience with them.I wear them as summer shoes (my sherpa lined Converse always come out as soon as the weather hints at getting cold). Canvas shoes are not known for being overly supportive and these are no different. I do find them comfortable though - more comfortable than my canvas Converse. They have lasted well and are still looking good. The black-edged sole makes them much easier to maintain than a white one would be. They appear well made and I have never had any reason to doubt that they are not genuine Vans.
