Northern Soul Story offers a generous selection of Northern Soul and includes Sam Cooke, Johnny Nash, Gladys Knight, The O'Jays and lots more. All 50 recordings are from 1956-62 from labels like Apollo, Satellite, Ebony and other less commonly known labels. The mastering is acceptable but not stellar like Bear records. Biggest disappointment is the liner notes which gives no indication of what year the recording was made. Because this is such a generous helping of early R&B American artists, and some of this is not easy to find, it gets 4 stars.

Couldn’t wait to hear it, based on reviews. What a disappointment! Boring. Did not inspire me to sing, dance, or even move. Not sure why I bought this.
