Miniatures are great, setting is creative, but DM needs are not completely met.
Love the miniatures, and recommend getting them. As for the setting at MSRP of $45, it's not meeting my expectations. Easily worth $25 though. Here's why.If you don't like the idea, then you probably are not reading this. The idea I thought was great, and bought this to run for my tween daughter. The author's creativity and the art are all fantastic, but it is not without it's frustrations-- it is not on the level of WotC's "Princes of the Apocalypse" or "Curse of Strahd" as far as both story and giving the DM what they need. There are a few maps, but only one of them is really worth your while-- the one of the whole island (though it doesn't have sectors to make buildings easy to find). There is also a "night" version of it, which is worthless as a physical copy. There are two other maps you won't use, but it is missing the map of the warehouse which is really needed to play the 2nd adventure (big oof). Your first major villain is stat'd, but his class and skills are missing, and the adventure says he uses spells-- but none are listed in the book for him. There's other NPC's stat'd out with gorgeous art, but they are not in any of the adventurers. The first adventure gives you this odd clue about "strong peppermint smell", but doesn't tell the DM what caused it, and is never mentioned again. Despite this, the adventures are good with a little more work from the DM. They are loosely connected, and the NPC's that do get introduced are great additions. I enjoyed the book, but I have reservations (I did back their sequel to this before I finished it when I was really hyped, so when it's delivered, that will determine if I continue to patronize SFG).
