Lacking flavour
I bought this at the same time as the white Morrisons Best Marqués de Los Rios Rioja Blanca. Of the two, this Marques Los Rios Rioja Crianza looked the most impressive. Is is a dark colour and the bottle has a proper cork, unlike the white rioja that is a screw cap. The white was very good (four stars) and I was surprised that this red was pretty ordinary and lacking in flavour, especially as Morrisons "The Best" range is usually a good sign of quality. I am thinking that as these are sold at the same price point (£7.75) they should be of similar quality. Maybe it is because the white has the cheaper screw top that means that Morrisons can elect for a better wine in this range for the white and have to go for something a bit more down market for the red. It is not too bad more is more the sort of plonk that you would expect for a fiver. Three stars.

Drinkable but not blown away
So far nothing beats the tartness of original campo viejo on cheaper wines.
