A Favorite Toy of Mine as a Kid, Seemingly Totally Unchanged Over a Decade Later
15 years ago or so, I had one of these as a kid. I was recently birthday shopping for a nephew of mine, and wondered if they still made these. To my surprise, not only are ornithopters still made, but this seems 100% identical to the one I had as a kid, even down to the packaging. I guess if it isn't broke, don't fix it.After spending an afternoon flying it around, our little bird made several crash landings, and was totally fine. My only complaint is the tail seems a bit flimsy, particularly in the hinge where you angle it. Overall I think most any kid will have a fun time playing with this thing, and its much cheaper than a drone or RC plane.

The Schilling Tim bird flying toys are durable and easy to handle offering hours of great fun!
This is such a fun way to get your kiddos out-of-doors. It is very durable, easy to handle, and flaps around like a real bird,—so I bought two of them this order after I saw how much fun my other grandchildren had with them.

Really cool idea, broke on first day of use
This is a really cool bird! A friend had one and my kids played with it all the time. Bought it as a Christmas gift for my son since he liked it some much and it broke the first day. It is not very durable, when it came down it hit the ground and one wing broke in 2 spots. For almost $20 I wish we could have gotten more use out of it.

Great science toy. You need to protect it between flights.
I give science demonstations at Libraries and schools. The kids love it when I make Tim bird fly around the room. I found quickly that when a group of kids charge after the bird and try to pick it up all at once it gets broken quickly. What I do now is assign one child to retrieve the bird and instruct the rest to stay still even if the bird lands near them. The kids have no problem following these directions if they are made clear.I also found a plastic container that is the same size as Tim Birds packaging. Between flights I keep him in this container (I use the part of the original packaging that is shaped like the bird and put this inside the plastic container), You might be able to forego the plastic container and just tape the original packaging back to gethor each time but I needed something more practical.I've had many Tim Birds over the years. On my recent purchase they changed the rubber band. It used to be a thick black band that was not like a normal rubber band. Now it appears to be a large normal rubberband. My flights have not been as long and dramatic as in the past. Still impressive but I am going to inquire about this issue directly with them.

Great fun - kids will love it
I have such great memories of this toy when I was a kid. I was so excited to find this.It flies great, but its much less durable than I remembered... The wings on this one do break a bit more easily. so be careful. But, its still fun.

Great fun for all!
I bought this for my 3 y/o grandson. He and his 34 y/o daddy love flying this bird. We had it at camp this past weekend, it went high up into the trees and almost made it to the lake. We are not lake front campers. LOL They had so much fun that they took it home with them. Great memories for sure!

Do NOT buy this!
I had a similar product when I was younger so I wanted to get it again, but it flew one time and immediately the wing ripped and it is broken. Very disappointed
