Change colors like magic!
My son likes to watch videos on YouTube of people playing with these color change cars so I got him a couple for Christmas (Mater and Ramon). He absolutely loves them and they've become his go-to bath toys. The water needs to be quite warm and quite cold (ice water) for the cars to change. We usually bring a bowl of ice water to the bathtub. Since they're meant to be played with in water, there's been no rusting or corroding and they're holding up well. I plan to buy him a couple more of the characters for his birthday.

Use ice water!
My son loves this thing. The green is a lighter color than pictured. Must use ice cold water to switch it.

Great for curious 2yo
Have only had it a week but has already entertained a busy 2 year old for hours. I had thought of using this in the bathtub but didn't realize in ambient temperatures it may not turn colors so I got two bowls one w warm/hot water and one w ice cubes and my son plays (outside) - in one spot - for a long time. Use outside (or have a small ice cup near bath) bc there is a lot of dunking back and forth - and be ready some maintenance to reheat/replace water so it continues to have enough delta for change.I got bc I remember my nephew loving these years ago and it didn't disappoint.

This is totally worth $20
My two-year-old grandson absolutely loves the color change! The color changes immediately from Coldwater to hot water! We’ve had it for a week and it works perfectly every time! I was skeptical looking at all of the other reviews saying that it didn’t change color, but I bit the bullet, and tried it and I’m glad I did

Great addition to our Mater collection
My son loves his color changing Mater. The water has to be ice cold to change colors and it doesn't change back easily. The heat from your hands will change it back temporarily. The photo makes it look like it's green. Any true Mater fan knows he was originally more of a sky blue color and then he rusted into brown. The actual color is the Mater blue not Green.

Great toy, color changes easily
This is the sturdiest Mater we have owned--on other models, the tow rope and crane have quickly broken. This one withstands all of the abuse my preschoolers hurl at it (or hurl it at to be more accurate). It fits perfectly on the Disney Cars tracks, but also drives just fine on the road side of wooden train tracks (as long as their the kind that have tracks on one side and roads on the other). As for the color changing -- my kids don't like getting their cars wet, so we put the cars in the freezer for a few seconds to change it to the cooler color. I love how the color change toys don't have to remain at a certain cool/hot temperature to keep their "cool" or "hot" color. To change it back, they simply hold it. In fact, that's my only problem with the whole color-changing thing -- the truck changes too easily to its "warm" color so that as soon as my child touches it, it begins to change. It's a great toy and my kids love it. If there were a 4.5 star option, I would use it.

Great fun for little ones.
A bit pricey, but worth it. My grandson gets hours of playtime with this toy.
