I served a can that was sealed and within date to my two boys.Within few hours, both were showing signs of food poisoning... all the horrible and messy signs.Cause and effect were very clear.Their sickness was also long lasting, as one of my boys did not eat for days.After the 5th day, when I took them to the vet to get tested, their results indicated pancreatitis.To pay a premium for food, you expect safe quality nutrition. But this stuff was almost poison.

I have been feeding this product to my cat for a long time. What I have not realized that Tuna, Tuna blend, or any fish meals are not good for cats with Hyperthyroidism. Plus the cans are not BPA free, one of the causes for Hyperthyroidism.

the only wet food my cat will eat. One time I ate it by mistake becuase I thought it was the sardines from the night before (YAK! and LOL!) I kept the cat food in the same plastic container as the leftovers from another lunch for sardines. I did not even notice that it was cat food until I came home after work and saw the sardines still in their container in the fridge. I wanted to throw up!!!! I survived and was shocked that it tasted really good.

I have become a HUGE fan of Solid Gold's wet cat food products since discovering them earlier this year. These products are made of actual meat, with no byproducts or fillers, and my cat really enjoys it. The gravy that's included with the meat seems to be very flavorful, and the protein is so filling that my cat only eats about a tablespoon of this at a time, a few times a day, and seems totally satisfied. Apart from this, I had reason to contact Solid Gold because I had some questions about the product. The product manager got back to me right away and followed up with me to make sure that all of my questions and concerns were addressed. I love a company that stands by its product, and also commits to continuous improvement. I will be buying Solid Gold wet cat food until my cat decides that she doesn't like it anymore (which we cat owners know that our cats are wont to do, eventually).

The tuna packed in these cat food cans seemed good, but had large chunks, too large for my senior kitty who need small pieces. I purchased it because it said "gravy" and my senior cat only likes food with lots and lots of gravy as he is a rescue kitty and is missing some teeth, so he needs easy to eat food. This just didn't fill the bill. He won't eat much of it. It probably would be fine for a young cat who can eat well and likes Tuna.

I'm not sure how these people feel comfortable calling this stuff "Gold" or "Holistic." There is a thin layer of might be light tuna, but underneath that is gross stuff that looks like tuna guts. My cat eats the top layer but sniffs and walks away from the rest. The problem is I had to purchase an entire case of this stuff and now must try to figure out what to do with it. I generally end up tossing the stuff at the bottom of the can since my cat leaves it.

I have a major issue with inconsistency of the product quality month after month.The box of Tuna Shreds i got this week, is just awful, no major pieces of tuna, and is mostly pureed/liquid gravy.The batch from last month was perfect, it had good chunks of meat and some pureed meat/gravy.The batch from a few months ago was also mediocre at best.My cats are also not too thrilled about the last batch of cat food.

My cat is basically an orange trashcan, he’ll eat whatever you dump. You’d think that would make it easier finding a brand to feed him, but the complete lack of pickiness made it hard to find him a healthy cat food. The brand I had been getting him for years has suddenly become hard to find, so I grabbed a few cans of many types. But food is food for him. everything got eaten.Only way I could tell what was really working best was if he sauntered back upstairs after his morning dump and didn’t smell like a sewer. Most grocery store cat food is just junk, like chik fila levels of ‘it felt like a good idea at the time’ with a side order of gastrointestinal distress. When cats eat bad, they smell bad, so I employed the horrifying tradition of the sniff test. That was not a fun week. Swampcat butt is no joke.Fortunately, one of my fluffy child’s favorite things ever is *tuna*, and I was pleasantly surprised to see the big chunks of it in these cans. He doesn’t have the common sense to get out off the way when my kids are running around and squabbling, but you can bet he will be at your ankles if you open a can of tuna. I love him, but he is just not that smart.So, executive decision made! Happy ginger. We split the can so he gets half in morning and half at dinner.Also, ever since we switched to Gold, this giant floof has been WAY less stinky and looking pretty healthy (he’s 9). Since I really have no choice but to live with four, smelly males, it’s refreshingly nice to assume control of at least one of their personal hygiene habits.I know pandemic is making things harder to come by, but fingers crossed this one sticks around.
