I don't own a mosin, I bought this pouch to hold 8mm 5round mauser clips. I store 4-5round clips horizontally, 2 in each pouch. To secure the clips I use the lower snap. The built in lifting straps make grabbing the clips easy. All snaps work, sewing and rivets are good. The pistol belt hook functions but because it's centered this allows the sides of the pouch to flap away from the belt, the belt loops are big enough to fit on a WW2 style pistol web belt so this doesn't matter to me. Good value and function for me.

This is a French TAP 56/ MAS 49/56 Pouch. It was used by the French in their wars in Indochina and Algeria.

Bigger then I thought it would be. On the top you have a surplus british ammo pouch for 303, that's more along the size I was expecting. You can see comparison pictures for reference. I imagine you can hold a m1 en bloc clip in there. Plenty of room for 10 rounds of 303. There is a small strap that goes under the rounds you could tug on to force them out if they were packed tightly. Nice touch.Stitching feels solid. Good color. Will be throwing this on my enfields sling.
