Q: how to dissemble the product?

The stool is not really designed to be disassembled once it has been assembled. The joints between the cylinder and the base and the seat and cylinder are tapered so that they wedge together very tightly the longer the stool is in use. I would not recommend trying to take them apart at all, unless it is absolutely necessary. If there is no other option for them than to try and disassemble the unit, they could try spraying a lubricant such as WD-40 in the joints and doing a little wiggle and jiggle to work the components loose. They might also try using a rubber mallet to carefully knock them apart.

Q: When leaning on the seat, does the foam and cloth tend to pull over the edge of the seat? Is vinyl better than cloth in this regard?

It doesn't pull over the edge but it's very smooth and slick, so it's easy to slide off. I would think vinyl would be better.

Q: Can this chair be returned if you can’t disassemble it as long as it’s not damaged and it’s packaged and protected to ship back unharmed?

I did. I had to get a different box, but I stuffed it all in there and got a refund.
