Perfect for my project !
I designed a way to add a plateau to my small wicker table and this nice wood disk was an excellent choice to complete my idea ! The size and thickness was what I needed to make this idea work ! Very happy with the finished project !

Perfect
I love this wood circle. I got it to use as a pasta plate mold for my slab pottery. It is perfect. It makes a great sized plate that is 3/4 inches deep. As the clay dries, it lifts off fairly easily. Now I always get consistent sizing.

This is NOT Plywood, but Solid Basswood. And a Decent Value Overall.
The reviewer who said this is plywood does not know what plywood is. This is all basswood, a solid wood, technically a hardwood but it is quite soft. The Wood Database says: "Easy to work, being very soft and light. Perhaps one of the most suitable wood species for hand carving. Basswood also glues and finishes well, but has poor steam bending and nail holding characteristics." Sounds about right to me.Given that most of these are composed of multiple pieces glued together before finishing, they're not ideal for staining. Frankly, if I was going to all the trouble of carving a piece of wood like this, I would want it to be one solid piece. Nevertheless, the other reviewer who showed his carvings is an excellent craftsman and his work looked great! But for most people, these circles will look best if they are painted. Which mine was. I used it as a base for a ceiling-mounted light fixture, and spray-painted it an oil-rubbed-bronze color to match the fixture. It worked very well for that, though I did have to do a fair amount of sanding prior to painting, as these were not finished very well and had a lot of rough areas on the wood. But overall, I'm very satisfied and would buy this again, IF I needed a painted piece of wood.

Filled gap between fan housing and ceiling
When installing a pair of new ceiling fans, the housing cover of each was over half of an inch from the ceiling above so I searched Amazon and found the Walnut Hollow 8-inch basswood circle. Using a carpenter's square and a triangular speed square, I found the center and cut the hole for the fan, sanded, primed, and painted before filling the gap almost perfectly. I used 150 grit sandpaper followed by 220 grit on the flat and a light sanding of 220 around the perimeter, three light coats of spray primer, and then three light coats of white spray gloss to match the fan (with a light sanding with 220 grit between coats to clean up any spray imperfections). The first photo shows a circle cut, painted, and ready to go.My circles are composed of three basswood boards glued together so their surface textures were a bit different; one component board took a little more effort with more sanding and an extra coat of paint but it resulted in a very smooth finish that, in place between the housing cover and the ceiling above, looks as it it was planned rather than a filler (see Photo 2).Overall, this is a very nice product that is worth the price.

Fantastic for use as a base, and paints very nicely.
I was making a starship Enterprise D into a lamp, for want of a better term, and this fit the bill perfectly. Nie and thick, perfect as a plaque or a base, and very reasonably priced.

Excellent for chip carving or signage
Chip carve, make a sign or use as is to set hot pot on. This is good solid wood with minimal marks.

Too Large for My Projecr
The wood has a nice grain and surface is smooth. Wooden round measures as m. I ordered it thinking the size would meet my needs but it was too large for what I am making.

Thick nice wood perfect for mounting my fern on! Truthfully a little small for the price but it works out for what I need it for right now.

Perfect for making a pyrography clock
The media could not be loaded. This was perfect for making my boss a clock for his retirement. Being made from basswood if idea for pyrography as there's isn't much sap which can catch more when yr burning. Finish was lovely and as you can see can be stained to any colour
