Very safe to use, holding up well. My favorite
I was looking for a safe, low odor wax to use over chalk paint and found this one. It has very few, and very safe ingredients. Most of them are the same ingredients in food!! I especially liked that since I am using it on kitchen cupboards. It applied easily and left a nice, low-sheen surface. It takes a while to cure, and will never be as hard as a polyurethane or something similar. It's a perfect finish for my 200 year old house. I want my cupboards to distress naturally which is why I chose chalk paint and wax - a modern factory finish would look odd in my kitchen. It is called 'clear' but will add a slightly yellow cast to your paint which I liked but you should be aware of it.

Amazing product - no matter what you hear about other high priced items - it's a terrific product. Easy on and looks amazing! No build up or caked on look. Really brings out the true color with the clear and gives the perfect depth with dark. I have used the dark without clear wax first and it wipes off easily if you get it somewhere you don't want it. It may be the project I applied it to, but I brushed on one coat and was thrilled that I had such great coverage as compared to using poly - when it's too much or not enough, it shows up. No brush stroke marks and no buffing - love this product. I would still recommend using the proper product depending on the material you are working with.

Great wax
I just completed my first chalk paint project. I enjoyed it emensly. Painting is very therapeutic:). Anyway, being that I was chalk painting in the house I didn't want a toxic wax that would stink up the house and make us sick. And so I found the Dovers wax. I have nothing to compare it to but I like it a lot. You don't need a lot of "elbow grease" to apply (as I've read by other waxes), it was easy. It has a mild sent, almost food like. I'm guessing that's from the walnut oil. The wax has a slight tint too. I didn't see the tint in my furniture mostly because I painted it black but I doubt you'd see it anyway.

It worked very well - I was actually using it on a piece of furniture (a headboard from the 1920’s that was metal, but painted intricately like wood with mother of pearl inlay) that a family member had damaged by using hair product and going to be with wet hair. It had left a big, chalky white spot on the paint. I was devastated. Using Dover’s Chalk Paint Wax has worked really well - while there is still damage under certain light (the actual texture of the paint changed), it has remarkably improved the condition of it. This is a great product and was very easy to use. I would recommend this to anyone!

Perfect
This wax works perfectly. It goes on easily, and soaks into the chalk paint nicely. It goes a long way, and I used one can of wax for each quart of chalk paint used, as two coats of wax seems best. This was a great product.

this wax is extremely easy to work with
In comparison to the Americana creme wax I have used, this wax is extremely easy to work with. It goes on easy and wiping off was the same. However, this does not provide good protection against minor scuffs and scratches, though I like how it makes the piece look. I did two coats and used as directed. The Americana wax provides a tough seal that has lasted over a year, used on a dresser turned tv stand in our living room.I used this on a slightly off-white chalk paint color. It did not leave a yellow hue as others have mentioned.Overall, I would say this is fine if used on something that will see little abuse.

Good stuff
This was my first time chalk painting and the wax was easy to use, went on smoothly, and the finished project looks great. I painted a dresser white and this wax did not discoloration it at all.
