Nicely blended functional design and style
First, the vendor that sold the pen shipped promptly with good packaging. The pen and box arrived undamaged. I would use the vendor again. The pen is representative of Lamy: nicely made, good design elements, comfortable to use, good value. There are more expensive brands, for both function (nib and feed) and cachet ("precious" resin), but Lamy does a great job melding material, design and value. The nib is designed to be replaceable, and I installed a 1.1 stub. I was unsure of the smooth grip section that comes with the matte-black model, but this has been a non-issue for me. The cap "clicks" to post, and the clip is strong. The one less-than-perfect issue: slightly loose-fitting cap. This is widely remarked on this model, but it's intentional: it prevents the cap from overly marring the grip section over time. Further, the plastic cap liner is actually replaceable. Others have remarked that the cap becomes rather loose over time and doesn't stay seated, which is possibly due to the reverse-threaded screw that retains the cap liner in the cap becoming loose (if the screw hasn't been lost, tighten it; perhaps apply a tiny bit of loctite). It is a very thoughtfully designed pen, and it shows. Some may find the weight to be tiring over time, but I didn't experience that as an issue - I'm using PIlot Asa-Gao ink, which flows nicely - no hard starts, and continues for extended writing, even on less-than-ideal paper. However, that is attributable more to the ink; "dryer" inks might be problematic in this pen. as other reviewers have noted. For me, the pen is useable without posting the cap, but the balance is slightly off. Smaller hands might appreciate not posting the cap.

Good pen
I have been using this pen a while. Smooth writing...I have fine nib which is not so fine per my understanding. It gets bit like medium on really smooth papers, I don't know why. It is however close to Fine on paper which are not that smooth. The other issue i noticed is that, the pen skips a lot on smooth papers (e.g. Rhodia/Levenger papers). It will also not work well if you change angle even a tiny bit...always requires pen nib to be straight down. I guess I am complaining too much :-) The similar nib on the plastic fantastic Lamy's works well. Pen finish is great, cap clicks firmly on both ends. I have black finish which is really more matte black...nice. In summary, if you are writing on very smooth papers, look somewhere else (I am) otherwise not bad price for classy looking metal fountain pen.For newcomers I will say this, you will see reviews like mine everywhere and other reviews which are full of praises also everywhere...don't despair! Don't think anyone is wrong, just that fountain pen companies seem to have quality control problems, including $30 lamys to $10,000 Mont Blac!

Writes Like a Dream
This is my favorite pen in my collection. It's easy to fill, not that bed to clean, and writes like a dream. I'm a lefty so many pens/nibs can give a thought time. Not the 2000. It's smooth as butter and every ink I've tried has worked flawlessly.

Excellent at a great price
I like this fountain pen. I have some other Lamy pens I like as well. But this one was between the low and high end, that is, affordable and excellent quality. It has a stiff nib, something I desperately need as I am heavy-handed. I have used this pen daily since it arrived and plan to use it for a long time.

Does not include an ink cartridge
I was excited to try this pen. The description indicates that the pen ships with a T10 cartridge, but it does not. I returned the first pen with a note, only to be shipped a second pen without the cartridge. Ultimately, I paid $5 for a pack of Lamy ink cartridges that arrives later this week.

Great pen, Awful Presentation
This pen came without any box at all—not even a cartridge was included. I love the Lamy Studio, but what a disappointment to receive a loose pen in a lightly padded envelope!
