This item does not work at all. It might work on a children’s bike, but not even close on a full sized mountain bike. Also because it has to be mounted on the inside or outside of the wheel mount it is off center with the gears and does not work. Cannot even get it to work for emergency use. Also cannot return because the paint rubs off like nothing while trying to install!

Chose 3 stars because I have not needed to use the item. Yet! I hope I will never have to. However as a bicycle touring enthusiast, this to me is like a spare tire, great to have available should the need arise.

Very few people carry spare derailleur hangers. If you break your hanger 15 miles in the back country, it can be a harrowing experience walking out. This little device works with most mountain bikes (it won't work with the new Maxle style through-axle rear-ends.) and can turn a ride from disaster into a slight hassle. A bit tricky to install, so it's a good idea to practice with this on your own bike in the garage before you do it on the trail.

A good thing to have as a spare in your saddlebag. It weighs next to nothing and will mend an otherwise ride-ending mechanical.

Another doodad I like having with me but hope to never use. Weighs nothing but makes me feel better having it.
