Love This Pen - Should’ve Read the Instructions
Who reads instruction for a pen? Evidently, I need to. After owning a Preppy, Plairsir and Prefounte (all Platinum pens), I thought I didn’t need to. When I got the pen, I dipped it in some ink and test drove it - nib was good, no skipping or scratchiness. I took an old used cartridge, filled it with ink and popped it in - nope too loose and wouldn’t stay put. What??? Did I get a defective pen? I combed the internet and found people with similar problems. Everyone seemed to say it was a manufacturing issue. No one said it was a user issue. I was about to return the pen when it dawned on me to read the instructions. The instructions specifically says, “insert the cartridge ink by slowly rotating it until the stainless ball falls inside the ink.” The instructions for the converter says the same thing. I was trying to push it straight in. Luckily I didn’t force it. Once I did this, it fit all the way in and was not loose. To remove, just rotate it back out. Easy peasy once you read the instructions.I love the pen. Feels substantial, slightly heavier than a Pilot Metropolitan or Lamy Safari Al-star. I got a fine nib and it’s between a Platinum Preppy extra fine and fine. The nib is bigger than the Preppy nib. Writes smoothly out of the box with feedback similar to a graphite pencil on Rhodia paper. It writes on the drier side. Since it’s a bit drier, it uses less ink and a full cartridge goes a looong way. Good for writing and sketching. Reverse writing slightly scratchy but could probably be fixed using a micro mesh to smooth the reverse nib.

Fabulous pen
The pen is just perfect, lightweight, well balanced. Better hold in the hand when posted. The nib is very nice, the fine nib is more of an Xtra fine European nib. The writing experience is absolutely fabulous.

This could be my one and only fountain pen.
Here is what I like about the pen... and what I don't like about then pen. Ok, let's get started. The nib is a Japanese Fine, but it is very smooth. There is some feedback and though there is more on cheap paper, it is not scratchy. I like the extra thickness of the section - it is more comfortable than some other pens. The cap - it is amazing at keeping the ink from drying out. It has a better seal than almost any other of my pens, including some that were priced similarly.Ok, now let's talk about what I don't like. It is a bit on the dry side when it comes to the ink flow. It is consistent, I will give it that however. But don't expect a ton of ink flow. This can be good for writing on cheap paper - even on my moleskine journal, it is the only pen I have that doesn't bleed thru.Other than that, it's a great pen and I don't see any reason to upgrade further at this time. It has been my go-to pen since I got it.

Someone opened the item (the box) before sending it out.
The item (Platinum Procyon) is great it is 5 star. However, the box looks like opened by someone. I felt uneasy, someone opened the box and got something out. The light blue tapes are looked like taped it off. (see the pictures.)

Punches above it's weight
I was after a lower cost (but not low) fountain pen and interested in trying out Platinum's steel nib. This pen not only did not disappoint, it was better than expected! The slate blue looks classy, the weight is spot on (not too heavy, not too light), the nib is flawless right out of the box. This became an instant daily writer.

Great value
This pen writes extremely well for little money.Nothing fancy about the nib, but it is not scratchy and with little feedback.A good sturdy travel pen.Unfortunately, it did not come with a converter.

Schnelle Lieferung, ausgezeichneter Preis.
