The Series Keeps Getting Better
I received a copy to facilitate my review. The opinions expressed here are my own.Let me start off by saying that I loved this third book more than the last one. This one kept my heart pounding. I felt like I was in that room with Ruby. I felt the fear/terror she felt every time her captor was there. He expected her to behave in a normal manner at times. This in my opinion was part of his delusion. This book starts off with our favorite detective finding a body buried on the beach, then later two more. She knows it isn't a coincidence. This serial killer was more terrifying to me. He kept his victims for prolonged periods of time and even after they were dead he kept their loved ones believing things were okay because they received text messages from them. That scared me realizing that this could and has happened in our present time. When Helen discovers Ruby Sprackling has disappeared she is sure that Ruby has fallen victim to this same serial killer. She is determined to do everything in her power to make sure Ruby comes home. I found myself often holding my breath. There is so much tension in this book. If you haven’t read this series I would suggest you pick this series up and get started.

Better than OK
I've been very anxious to read this series but have been put off by the high price on each of them so when book #3 was offered for $1.99 I grabbed the chance and read it right away. All I can say is that compared to a few other female lead cop books that I have already read, this one wasn't up to par for me for some reason. I just didn't feel like I could cozy up to Helen Grace. I have my female favorites from other series such as Kim Stone, and Erika Foster. I don't think I'll be getting on this bandwagon unless the prices are lower. It was well written and thrilling but not enough to warrant the $10.00

Not Like My Doll House!
I had a doll house when I was a little girl, but it wasn't like this one. Mine was all fun and games. This one was frightening and sad. But the story and the mystery were really good. I loved it!A girl's body was discovered at the beach, interred about four feet down. Helen Grace was the lead in the case. There was quite a bit of petty politics going on in the department, but Helen was immune to all of that. Her focus was all on the case. She thought the scene and the evidence pointed to a serial killer. And soon enough, three more graves were found. This was a totally engrossing story and the tension kept building to an almost unbearable height. Don't miss this book! It will keep you reading until the wee hours.I borrowed this book from my local library through Amazon.

Not the best Helen Grace story
The book was mildly enjoyable but felt like it’s dragged on a bit in the beginning, with a lot of redundant rehashing of events that had taken place earlier in the book. Also, I feel the whole personal vendetta things that come against the detective are a bit overdone.I will definitely read the next book in the series, as I enjoyed the first and second ones so much. However, if the next book is equal to or less enjoyable than this one, I will not continue reading this series.

Weaker Than Predecessors, But Still Great
In this third entry in his Detective Helen Grace series, M.J. Arlidge continues his tradition of excellence, in both the fast-paced plot and the thoughtful character development (particularly that of Detective Sergeant Lloyd Fortune). In this case, he has also given us a second villain to despise: Detective Superintendent Ceri Harwood, who goes to absurd lengths in her vendetta against Grace. What makes The Doll's House the weakest book in the series thus far is the direction in which Arlidge has taken Grace's relationship with Jake. It almost feels as though someone told Arlidge that Grace needs a love interest, and Jake was the nearest available male. This reader, for one, thinks Grace - prickly, damaged, loyal, aggressive, intimidating, independent Grace - is perfect just the way she is.I received a free copy of The Doll's House through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE BOSS?
In most cases you find that a boss wants his or her employees to succeed, to be the best. Not Ceri, Helen Grace's boss. Helen is a DI who manages to track down serial killers and all Ceri wants is for her to fail, going so far as to sabotage Helen's plans for a capture. You'll have to read the back to find out how it all works out. It's well worth your time. I'm off to read the next book in the series, Liar Liar. ENJOY

Another fantastic book by M.J. Arlidge
Another fantastic job by M. J. Arlidge! Probably my favorite of the 3 so far in this series. As always, the chapters are short, to the point and completely draws you in from page one. There's a little bit of the same old clashing with her boss, yada yada but the way the characters are portrayed are always well done - surprisingly so considering how short the chapters are! There are MANY characters and many points of view but they are all easy to follow and I always find these to be highly entertaining and easy reads. Starting #4 NOW! :D
