PERFECT!
I LOVE THIS BOWL! Bought the large dog size for an 8lb, old, blind Shih Tzu. She would stand at her old bowl bobbing her head barely making the water level. I even elevated her old water bowl atop small cutting boards. THAT DID NOT WORK WELL! She sometimes fell into the shorter set-up. Saw this sturdy looking bowl set and decided a 6 1/2" height Large dog bowl might work better. IT WORKS VERY WELL! She drinks without any difficulty now. Thank you for greatly improving my little old dog's life!

A Great Dish For A MEDIUM or SMALL Size Dog - JUST ORDER THE CORRECT SIZE
This dish is used for an older medium size Sheltie with some arthritis. It really helps to keep him steady and not have to bend his neck to the floor. I ordered several and as unexpected bonus, I found I could also turn one of the units over and my large steel water dish fits perfectly down inside the open bottom and fully raises the water too. If you do not have the correct size bowl on hand to turn this into an elevated water dish, you could simply take the unit to Wal-Mart and find a steel or plastic mixing bowl that will fit. This is great if you are a matchy-matchy type of person like me since the included removable steel dish is the perfect size for food, but IMO too small for water. The unit is heavy, thick plastic and molded in one piece. It feels substantial, seems durable and is steady on the floor.**SIZING** To help you gauge size, please note that one Sheltie is a medium size dog (Mini Schnauzer / Cocker Spaniel size) and the larger dish is perfect but it is too tall for my other Sheltie who is a smaller dog (Pomeranian size). However, I also own the smaller size unit and it's perfect for the little guys. I think the smaller size would also work for cats, but IMO neither one of these dishes would work for large dogs.I am happy to report that both dogs and human are quite pleased with this product.

LOVED & SHOULD'VE bought one years ago!
Our Turkish Van is EVERYTHING to us and lives a VERY CUSH life. LOL No joke tho, there's nothing we wouldn't do for her. She's now at an age where she needs elevated dishes. Probably been at that age for a few years but we didn't know "elevated" dishes were a thing until this year. Earlier in the year, I bought a rack/shelf to raise her food dish (her food and water are in separate areas). She's allowed to graze on her kibble 24/7, bcoz she was homeless when she found us and we promised her she'd never again go hungry. Before you grimace, there's never a risk of her eating more than recommended bcoz I measure the proper amount into a sealed container every night before bed, and her PawPaw knows whatever' is in that container is ALL she's allowed for the day. We both keep her dish from being empty, but it's never more than what I've portioned out. ANYWAY....on to THIS item....raising her food has near-completely STOPPED the dreaded cat-vomit (aka: Scarf 'n Barf) -- all y'all Purrrents know what I'm talkin' about -- it's been a GAME CHANGER. So I decided it'd be safe to elevate her water as well - looking to make everything more comfortable on her neck and back, of course. SHE LOVES IT!!!! And I love the ease and cleanliness. NO COMPLAINTS. She's a long-legged, big kitty (typical Turkish Van) and has made it purrfectly clear how much she APPRECIATES these new changes. [purr purr purrrr, rub-rub-rub] Had a stainless-steel water fountain years ago but those darn things get pretty darn nasty and are VERY inconvenient to "clean". The concept is brilliant but the design is FAR from excellent -- talking about the filters and pumps. But I'd kept the bowl bcoz it was stainless steel and having used one all these years I couldn't imagine switching to any other type of bowl, so when I found THIS I was beyond THRILLED. It is PURRFECT. Got a 2nd one to put outside in her Catio! Yep, she's "Livin' da'Life"!!! There is literally NOTHING to complain about this item. BUY IT.

Better than most other dog bowls
The quality of the bowl is actually pretty good and attractive. The plastic is thick and won't topple over even with a full bowl of water. The inner metal bowl could be a tad thicker, but it's good enough. 3-stars are due the good quality in material and production. However, if all you wanted was a regular doggy bowl at height, then this will do. I wanted a bowl to keep my 24lb Cavalier K.C. Spaniel's ears from getting soiled with food or water. I have the large bowl because I needed the volume for holding water in our hot environment. From the reviews I read, the small bowl was not going to work out. The large did not work out as well. The opening is too big and my dog's ears got wet. I guess if he only used the center of the bowl and not the sides, then it could work. Even then it would only work as a water bowl, because food will be eaten along the side as well. Ideally, the bowl should be about an inch smaller at the top and deep enough to hold the same volume. Since it was used and tested, I didn't feel I could send it back to Amazon in good conscience. So we'll continue to use it for his water bowl but not for his food. For his food, we use the small bowl. It works better at keeping his ears from touching food but we still use women’s nylon stockings to keep his ears pinned up. It works well. Here are the dimensions of the item that some may find helpful.Plastic BaseHeight: 6-1/2" from floor to top with bowl in.Top Diameter: 6-3/4" (outside dimension)Top Dia: 6-1/16" (inside dim)Bottom Dia: 4-3/4" (receptacle for bowl)Base Dia: 8-7/8" (has 1/8" high rubber tape to make non-skid)Depth of bowl receptacle: 2-5/8" (tapered)Plastic Wall Thickness: 1/4" (top is 1/16" thicker) (Hollow construction)Weight: ~750g (1.65lbs)Metal BowlTop Dia: 6-9/16" (includes 1/8" lip)Bott Dia: 4-1/2" (inside dim, outside dim similar)Weight: 104gVolume: 3-1/2cups (0.83 liters, filled to brim)

Perfect for my large dog
I have a 90 pound Great Pyrenees mix. I did not want a highly elevated bowl, but I didn't want him to have to lie down to eat. This one is the perfect height. At first I was afraid the bowl might be too small for his mouth, but it is fine. Very happy with purchase

Very nice!
I was skeptical when I first saw them but after filling with water and food for my 110 lb dog, I was sold. He had no issues with eating his kibble and there was no food flipping out at all. Same with the water, no spillage or splashing worth mentioning. I always use mat with slightly raised edges lined with a small hand towel to keep his area clean anyway. Easy to wipe down and they look nice in the kitchen. I did get the larger one which was still nice and compact.
