I've bought similar plug-in adapters before, and learned it's best to test them. So...that's what I did with this one. Some higher end adapters compensate for the resistance of the wires between the adapter and the output plug, and the output voltage at the plug stays nearly constant with load changes. The bulk of good adapters, though, regulate the voltage at terminals inside the adapter, and load changes change the output voltage at the output plug because of the resistance in the wire between the adapter and the plug. You can determine the resistance by noting how much the voltage drops as the load increases. In the case of this adapter, it appears the resistance in the wire is about 0.35 ohms. However, as I increase the load current above 1.5A, the output voltage drops much faster. My professional opinion is that this adapter shouldn't be rated more than 1.5A. At that, it seems to work well up to 1.5A, and to protect itself above that current. It's actually quite a reasonable value for a 12V 1.5A adapter, and it's useful to me at that current. After my testing, I know not to ask it to deliver more than 1.5A.

It also came in a 2 pack so if it happens again I can just switch it out good buy

I did not use these to power an LED light strip, although if you have a strip that needs 12v and 2 amps these should work fine. It's also a good deal to get two power supplies at this price.

Price for the pair was reasonable, shipped rapidly. Allowed my devices to be placed back into use.

They will not let the LED light strip stay on. It continuously blinks.
