The CALM Baby Method: Solutions for Fussy Days and Sleepless Nights

For ANY baby
I was surprised at how helpful this was. I got it at 4 months and I wish I had it as a newborn! I feel it is great for ANY baby, not just the fussy ones.My favorite part was the breakdown of baby behaviors that signal what they need. (Tired, hungry etc.) It took a lot of practice, book holding and watching baby to figure out, but made an EXPONENTIAL difference in our daily lives. In particular, I realized my baby was tired and I was missing nap opportunities.Short and concise, full of information instead of filler... (**quick to read while your fussy baby is feeding, taking a short nap or entertaining themselves for a brief moment.**)I didn't feel as if my baby fit *every* definition of fussy in here, but I realized he definitely is after reading this book/meeting other babies. The massage helped some, but mostly it was taking a leap back and doing the step-by-step approach to realizing WHAT helped my fussy baby, instead of throwing everything at him at once. There were lots of helpful pictures too!

Must have for fussy babies
This book is AMAZING. It is an easy read which is a must when you have a fussy baby. With helpful pictures and graphics. The authors have so much experience and I loved the interdisciplinary approach. There was info from occupational therapy, speech therapy, lactation, nutrition, and GI. This will help parents understand their baby, which will result in immediate changes! Can’t recommend enough!

Really-how many onesies can you give?
My new “go-to” gift for baby showers! Help new moms out before the going gets tough. Excellent guidance on babies/cranky or not. The advice from a pediatrician and a baby whisperer will help new parents and new babies!

A very good resource for new parents
The authors certainly have the credentials to give advice on fussy babies as this is written by a pediatric occupational therapist and a pediatric gastroenterologist with decades of experience. The writing style is easy to read and I like the format of the book, as there are many insets that make it easy to reference a particular topic. A lot of practical suggestions are given. The photos provided also help to explain ways of holding and calming babies. I think even parents with unfussy babies could benefit from some of the advice in this book. I particularly liked the baby yoga!

Nothing good- don’t buy
Read this entire book. Not helpful. It keeps saying their CALM method works so well, and they will explain it but they never get there. Just way to many anecdotes- explain your method. Don’t buy, really don’t see the point of this. I will just be recycling it bc not worth passing on to anyone or the thrift store.

Every parent needs this
Patti personally worked with me and my first born to help with his fussiness. She is practically an Angel to us in our home as well as 2 of the people she thanked in her acknowledgments! This book lays out the methods Patti taught us with our first in an easy to read format. We purchased it when we were expecting our second 3 years later. We had forgotten so much! The book is easy to read and easy to jump to certain sections for a quick refresher.Even parents without high needs babies need this book.
