Anthology of Art Songs by Black American Composers: Voice and Piano

I love this collection and purchased it to prepare for a recital. It is the beginning of the quintessential collection of art songs by black composers by one of the leading scholars of his time, Dr. Patterson. Every serious musician and champion of art song should have it.

This anthology is amazing and beautiful. I will forever advocate for more black representation in classical music settings and this anthology does that. Chalk full of beautiful music and amazing poetry.

I have been wanting this book to add to my library for years, and I’m super glad that I finally got it. Such beautiful repertoire by wonderful Black composers.
