...and who hates having to pay a fortune for a bowl of Hot and Sour Soup in an Asian restaurant!I love Starport Foods Hot and Sour Soup Concentrate for its ease of cooking and its relatively low cost. It tastes great! The only thing that bothers me is that the recipe that comes with the gallon of concentrate calls for a tiny amount (one tsp. or tbsp. or less, I think) of Starport Foods Marinade Seasoning for marinading the pork, and Amazon only sells Starport Foods Marinade Seasoning in 5-lb. bags! Who needs 5 lbs. of marinade for their hot and sour soup except giant restaurants?!?But the ingredients of Starport Foods Marinade Seasoning are basically just corn starch, salt, sugar, dehydrated onion and dehydrated garlic so I found a lower-priced and lower-volume of marinade with pretty much the same ingredients. I use this as a substitute to cook the pork instead.My recipe:1. 1:10 parts Starport Concentrate/Water (use the water you soak the dried mushrooms in to add flavor).2. Pre-soaked dried sliced shitake mushrooms.3. Pre-soaked dried wood ear mushrooms.4. Sliced bamboo shoots from a can.5. Scallions.6. The cooked pork (marinated or not).7. Drizzled egg (be sure to drizzle the egg properly so it comes out in strings--you can find out how to do it on Youtube.com).8. Tofu (the most important ingredient in my opinion besides the egg. I get my tofu in bulk from Costcos).9. Pre-soaked dried lily flowers? I haven't tried this yet but many recipes include them.10. Not having a marinade the first time around, I had to add cornstarch, sugar and salt. The cornstarch is important for thickening.Be sure not to over-boil the soup or you will boil off some of the sour flavor of the rice vinegar. I keep a bottle of Rice Vinegar in my pantry just in case. I also sometimes add a drop of Sesame Oil.Anyway, it tastes great, and I love being able to make Hot and Sour Soup in large volumes at home so I can eat as much as I want to. I make a huge pot of it and then freeze it in smaller containers so it's there to heat up and eat whenever I want it.So if you are a Hot and Sour Soup lover, Starport is the easiest/most cost-efficient way to go.

My favorite item at our local Chinese buffets is the hot & sour soup. Now that I can make it at home I'm happier than a pig in mud. I make a batch of hot & sour soup using this concentrate at least every other week. I'm addicted. Add shiitake mushrooms, wood ear mushrooms, scallions, bamboo shoots, corn starch, a scrambled egg and tofu (if you like tofu) and you're done. It even makes my bald spot sweat just like in the restaurants.

I love hot and sour soup and make it often at home. The flavor and the spice in this concentrate is amazing. I can use as much or as little as I want to make it to taste. This is my second bottle and I love it.

This stuff is great. It is the flavor I have been looking for. Can be used for many different Hot and sour soup recipes. I bought 200 4 oz plastic containers with tops and froze to make 5 cup at a time. I am going to try some of the other sauces from Starport foods. We are going to try it in our next Hotpot yummy.
