I received the backup valve and heard a “rattling” sound inside it. I opened the valve to discover a small broken piece of plastic (possibly due to shipping damage, although it was well packaged). I removed the piece of plastic and closed it up. I installed the valve and it worked well.A day later I received an email from the seller emphasizing their appreciation and support for their product. I did not plan on asking for a refund as the valve worked, but I responded to the email and described my experience/issue. They responded quickly and immediately sent a new valve to me.Superb support. Highly recommended.

I am buying this for the Polaris backup valve replacement for the 3rd time this year. This 2nd one literally blew up. The top totally cracked above the screw on collar and the the water just blew out the cracks. I am going to try one more time and if that one blows up I guess I will have to buy the original Polaris replacement. So far Amazon replaced the first one under warranty. I am hoping they do the same for this one.

UPDATE: after less than 2 months or broke. Total garbage. Should have known betterOur Polaris 280 has been acting up for a while. I ordered a rebuild kit for it and after putting it back in the pool, realized the backup valve was cracked.The cost at Leslie's was $99, so it was a no-brainer to at least give this one a shot. It was delivered next day, installed quickly and worked perfectly right away. With this and the rebuild kit, my pool sweep is working better than it ever has and my pool looks amazing. Highly recommend!

This item is amazing. You have to have it for your Polaris to work properly in the pool and it was half the price of the pool supply.

Worked great for 3 years. Ended up having the same problem that I had with my original back up valve. The hole where the back up water squirts out has an internal part with an o-ring that starts to stick out too far and lets water squirt out when it is running in normal forward operation. This doesn't totally disable the polaris cleaner but it does slow down its movement and affects its pattern of movement.

Love this one after the most expensive backup valve on Amazon failed immediately after installation. Came with detailed instructions and all the internal parts were present. Functions perfectly immediately after installation.

After about two years use, the threaded cap on the back up valve split same as shown elsewhere in these reviews. I messaged Chu Lan with original order information and details of damage. He honored the lifetime warranty by promptly (within a couple if days) sending a new back up valve. He also sent a replacement cap so I could reuse the damaged one as well. Chu Lan honored the Lifetime Warranty contrary to what other reviews have said.

I installed the backup valve but it isn't working correctly. There is a constant partial flow of water out of the backup valve and it never spins around to full backup flow or no backup flow. I checked all of the gears on the inside and they are all seated properly and connected. When I spin the gears, I see the internal valve slowly rotate. But when under pressure, I think the case cracks open a little and this keeps the gears from spinning, keeping the valve in a constant flow state. It is worthless at the moment.
