Caran D'ache Swiss Made Metal Ballpoint Pen, Metallic Turquoise (849.171)

I’m a big fan of Caran D’Ache for art supplies. I’m also a lover of pens. This purchase was a no brainer as a treat. The pen is very nice and a good size for small to medium hands. It sits well and is light enough so that the user doesn’t tire easily. The pen catches the eye and the colors are fabulous but not so much that you’d be afraid to actually use the pen. The pen is good quality but won’t get put away as too good to use. The only possible complaint is the expense of the refills and these refills are just different enough that no substitute quite does the job. That irritates me because the refill isn’t of a quality sufficient to justify its price at double the Parker refills. But the pen is so fun that I will begrudgingly live with that.

The pen arrived without the metal tin. If you're gifting this, it might be better to order from another seller who is including the OEM tin. The pen itself is beautiful. Finish and color are excellent. The refill is...serviceable. I usually use fountain pens or gel ink pens which are much smoother. The ballpoint refill works and seems reliable but the line that it lays down is thin and there is a bit of friction in it. I wish that the pen easily took Parker G2 refills. You have to perform a bit of surgery on the refill to get it to fit.

I wish I could give a higher review but sadly I was disappointed in the build quality of these pens, having read the reviews I was expecting more but they just seem cheap and they did not write very smooth at all, the cost of the refills alone I was expecting nice smooth writing but these are not that.

It's a pleasure to write with this ball point on almost any quality paper. Overall I like it very much. What I like somewhat less is that it's smaller, with less heft than other pens I am used to. Also, although the point retraction mechanism so far has worked flawlessly, there is not perceptible "click, " which is oddly unsatisfying. The barrel color os very nice, a pleasant aquamarine.

Bought for my wife because it matches her corporate logo color. Bought two in case she loses one. She uses a fountain pen ALL the time, but since she received the ballpoint, uses this one more and more, because, well, it’s her color, and the ink flow is so smooth.

I love this pen. It's one of my new faves. I only gave three stars for giftable because it came in a 0lastic ziploc bag, instead of a nice box, which I'm used to with nice pens.

The perfect gift for a student or anyone who writes a lot. Caran d'ache 849 pens have always been my favorite. They are built to last. This is the best pen you can buy for the price. It writes every bit as well as pens costing hundreds of dollars more.

I love the pen, unfortunately, after a few days, the ink exploded, ruined a pair of my pants, and damaged a carpet. I do not like to give low starred reviews but no ink cartridge would have been preferrable to this situation.

I have the purple verson of this pen and have used it over the past five years without any issues. It is comfortable to use and writes well, especially with black ink which comes out very clear on white paper. Quality good looking pen at a good price.

The pen is lovely. Write smoothly & is lightweight in the hand. It comes in just a plastic wrap & is just dumped on your doorstep by the Amazon courier, so no good ordering as a gift. I was probably lucky it wasn’t stolen I suppose!

I liked the look of my colleague’s pen so I ordered my own. The construction seems good, aluminium pen body, hopefully will be robust to many years of use. The “clicker” is silent, which might not be to the taste of some. I understand that a normal Parker Jotter cartridge can be used if cut down 2 to 3 mm.

The pen is a little bit small
