LanYue 5 Watt 450LM Silicone Coated G9 LED Light Bulb 40w Equivalent 3000K Warm White
BrightnessThese are 5W (40 watt equivalent /450 lumen) 3000K “warm/bright” bulbs, giving off a soft white hue. These provide ambient lighting but also work well for reading (dimming can help control ambient and reading characteristics). If you require a brighter/whiter effect, consider the LanYue 5W (40 watt equivalent /450 lumen) 6000K “daylight” bulbs, which give off a cool, bluish white hue. Daylight bulbs are often used for task lighting, such as for reading, kitchen counter or workbench projects.MeasurementNot to be confused with traditional halogen bulbs typically measuring 1” in length, these are 2.45” long and best used with lighting fixtures offering at least 2.5”-3” of length clearance. Additionally, at .63” wide, they are “girthier” than a traditional halogen bulb. This isn’t negative, just something to be aware of with this newer generation of energy efficient lighting. The manufacturer, LanYue, does a good job with their descriptions and technical specifications. Pay attention to those and you should be fine.Characteristic/CompositionThe bulbs themselves are encased in soft silicone, making them both durable and comfortably warm to the touch. On the contrary, energy sucking and lava hot halogen bulbs, which I replaced, will melt your fingers, heat up your room, catch the drapes on fire and sometimes explode if you touch them with your bare hands. Special handling should be exercised when working with halogen bulbs as they don’t respond well to contaminants, such as the oils transferred from your bare fingers. So after they have cooled off, use a cloth to remove/handle them.DimmingThese LanYue bulbs are dimmable and work well with the existing dimmer switches built into two different floor lamps, which are 4 and 5 bulb designs. There are instances, however, in which existing/older dimmer switches may not work with LED lighting. This can apply to both in-wall switches and built-in lamp dimmers. If you have issues with these bulbs working with built-in lamp dimmers, consider getting the Leviton TBL03-10E 300-watt Tabletop Slide Control Lamp Dimmer, $13.49 on Amazon. If you have issues with a wall dimmer switch, consult an electrician, or if you’re knowledgeable/comfortable with handling electrical circuits, head to your local Home Depot for an LED compatible wall dimmer.Customer ServiceI did contact LanYue by email concerning technical questions and they were very good about getting back to me.I hope this review was helpful.Attached pics: 5 Globe Light: LanYue 3000K, LanYue 6000K. Mixed feelings
Seems to be a great bulb, but doesn't really push enough light down, in line with the bulb, opposite of the base. That said the efficiency seems great, putting out almost as much light as a 12W bulb.Test:I tested the light output with 4 other bulbs using a phone's ambient light sensor. below the bulb and at approximately the same height as the bulb.60W incandescent equivalent walmart bulb: below bulb: 33 lux, didn't test second position8.5W https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07G9CHZLV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1below bulb: 46 lux normal to bulb: 64 lux12W https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07MR46KB7/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1below bulb: 66 lux normal to bulb: 72 lux16W, this bulbbelow bulb: 60 lux normal to bulb: 63 lux

Bright and comfortably "Warm"
3.5 years ago I replaced a failed Halogen with a Cool White 5 watt LED bulb. It worked fine, but it wasn't quite bright enough, wasn't a comfortable color (too blue-white) and didn't seem to spread the light over as broad an area as the Halogen had. When that bulb flickered once last month, I used that as an excuse to try this Warmer LED bulb.A complete change for the better in each problem area. Brighter, a more comfortable color, and a wider spread of illumination. The construction and power ratings of the two LEDs were identical but everything was improved.I can't fault this in any way after a month's use, so I recommend it.Edit: just noticed that the photo, above, isn't quite color-true; it makes the light appear whiter than it is. Not sure if that's my phone's fault...
