the rope is larger than 1/2" diameter, I haven't checked the length
My existing rope with the red tape at the end is a correctly sized 1/2" rope that I use in my rope puller. The new "1/2" rope that I purchased from this listing is shown below my existing 1/2" rope with the red end. Notice how much thicker the new "1/2" rope in this listing is. The new thicker "1/2" rope came in the cardboard box shown in the other picture. The problem is I cannot use the thicker "1/2" rope in this listing in my rope puller as it won't grip the thicker rope and would be deadly to use so I can't use it.

my bad, it seems I'm looking for solid core braided ...
Thirty feet out the plastic spool collapsed due to one pop rivet undoing. This one misapplied rivet held the spindle column to the spool.I did not notice this 'til about fifty feet out. Another head scratcher! Also, my bad, it seems I'm looking for solid core braided nylon rope, whichthis spool seems only solid braid around itself or a loose we've interior. Possible difficulties in the future. But I do not know the lingo. One can pull back the outer weave like a banana. Next time I shall put a sample to you. Mighty courteous and good P R for you to ask, howver. Thanks. jb

tree swings
We use this for our tree swings. I wanted 3/4 but this was the only solid braided nylon I could find on amazon. I'd prefer solid braided polyesther really, more like climbing or logging rope, but this works. The length and price were great. We've got massive trees on our property and used this to put up roughly 8 different types of tree swings. The only warning I'd give on it is that, since it's white, and our dirt is black, the rope quickly looks dirty from little hands holding on. But otherwise, it works.Oh, I am able to cut it with scissors and burn the end, but it's tedious-be forewarned. I'd love to have a hot knife tool to cut it, but I don't. That being the case, just beware of that it's a little extra effort when you cut the end to get it burnt so the frays don't keep on unraveling the rope end.

Good rope for the price
The diameter of the rope looks a little smaller than a half inch. The weave in the braid is a little loose in spots too. Other than that it seems to be decent rope for the price and will work fine for me. It came on a wooden spool held together by three bolts so I'd say they took care of the issue I have seen in the reviews about a cheap plastic spool being broken during delivery.

Size is incorrect.
Your website describes this product as 1/2 inch x 300 feet. The rolls are, in fact, only 162 feet long and are more than 1/2 inch, more like 3/4 inch. We ordered two of these previously but just today unrolled the rolls and found only162 feet. We just ordered a third because we need more rope than we orginally expected and want all the rope to match. Obviously we are disappointed.

Bulk is worth the storage.
Plain and simple it's a 1/2" Nylon Rope Solid Braid and the price makes it well worth it. Go to your local store or your local WalMart and price the same rope at 50'. Duh Next Question. Store what you do not need now and you more than likely get some of your money back by helping a friend who needs rope.

Ups and Downs....
Made raising and lowering a 60 foot tower a piece of cake - did not seem to stretch to much. I am not sure I would trust this as climbing rope but then I just raised a 60 ft steel tower using this and a pulley attached to a winch to lower and raise the tower.

Used for rappelling training, be ready to unravel and re-pack your rope on delivery, the spool WILL be broken....
Great rope at a really good price. Spool came apart almost immediately. Thanks to everyone else already warning me that would happen, I was ready for it. We used the rope for rappelling training and it worked out perfect. I saw the same rope at local hardware store for almost a dollar a foot, so I saved a bunch of coin on this one.
