Dog River ToolsTig Pen Rod Holder, Feeder Pencil, Welding Finger Feeder

Basically bought this just to try it out.. it’s nicely made and feels solid.. the only thing that’s weird is that the roll devise is kind of counterintuitive to normal hand feeding of the rod.. meaning u have to roll the wheel back to get the rod to move forward.. unlike the natural way of feeding the rod moving ur fingers forward.. maybe if they had a double wheeled system it would fix that.. sure this wouldn’t be a problem the more u practice with it.. but I’ll just stick to the normal finger feed since I’ve doing it for years lol

Doesn't feed 3/32 aluminum consistently. Haven't tried steel yet. Works good when it's feeding properly. If I can't get it working better I will be returning.

For some reason the shape of this tig pen makes it much easier to handle and use then other "slim" design tig pens. You are able to retain a more positive grip on it and feed the rod easier through this design. I noticed my fingers and hand don't cramp and I have better control. The tool has a screw that allows adjustment of the tension on the rod. The tension adjustment is easy to understand and use. Although I think it looks a bit unusual, I am having a good experience with this tool in my welding.

Very well made product, fits very well in the hand. I would recommend it to others. I subtracted one star because I feel the finger wheel could be slightly larger for better feeding. I had to really keep it rolling to keep up with my weld puddle.

I can feed rod, but I'm not that steady anymore. With this, I can turn the thumbwheel and feed rod accurately. It's large and fits my gloved hand nicely. Steel rod feeds fine. I got a pack of aluminum rods (3/32") that came slightly bent in shipping and the feed wheel will slip when the bend hits the unit. Oh well, not perfect, but otherwise works very well. I'd buy it again if I lost this one.

The other styles that are much the size of a pen caused fatigue and cramps over extended use. This model is larger and more comforting to use. It also holds the filler rod in place so you dont have to worry about it when you dont have your finger on the roller. If i could change anything I would make the roller part bigger, thats just me, the roller works great as is.

Pretty simple tool. Had to tighten it up a little bit to get it to have the right pressure on the rod. Wouldn't work on aluminum sticks fyi

Product seems well built. It was a little hard getting use to using it at first but it worked great once I became better at it.
