If you are looking for sonic fidelity to your music, this is not the speaker for you. Then again, if you were looking for sonic fidelity, you would be looking at speakers about $20 more expensive, anyway. You're looking at this for the aesthetic.That said, I love this speaker. The materials are really nice, and it looks good. The horn comes off for easy transport, and it's not secured in any way. It just slips right in.Sound is the big surprise. When I first played it, I felt almost disappointed. It sounded tinny. After playing with it for a day and listening to different music, I see that this isn't the case. The sound matches the aesthetic -- it sounds like you're playing the music on a gramophone. It's the acoustics of the horn: there are resonances and subtle echoes added to the music. Because of a lack of bass -- a result of the horn, not the speaker itself inside the base -- some songs seem almost unrecognizable. But you get it. This isn't a simulation of what the music would sound like on a gramophone, this is what the music would sound like on a gramophone.I would not suggest this as an only speaker, but it's a great accompaniment for maybe a cottagecore picnic or integration into a steampunk cosplay. If you're playful about musical sound, this is a wonderful purchase.
