Fate Zero Collection [DVD] [2020]

great series shame about the case
honestly the show is amazing, i missed out on the actual release of it when it first came out so i was glad to purchase this. the price is a bit much considering its a re-release and the blu ray case it comes in is almost triple the width of a normal blu ray case when there is no need for that size and they could have offered a better box set as it does look tacky on the shelf next to normal sized blu rays and your limited edition ones. these just look bad to me. i would wait till the price goes down as i do not think that this is worth the 50 bucks for a show that is what, 6 years old. even a better box set with some additional stuff and i would have gladly paid the asking price but this just seems like a poor effort.

A Good Way of Owning an Excellent Anime
So Fate Zero has finally been released as a single complete collection. At around £49 at release and costing about £2 per episode, I wouldn't go so far as to call this excellent value and it's a shame that some anime series are being sold at pretty expensive price points despite being almost 10 years old. However, it is the best value release of Fate Zero so far and it is nice to have the whole series in one package. The Blu-Ray set comes in one pretty chunky case. I'm not sure why they didn't use a standard sized case, as it is possible to get 4 discs in one of those cases (which would be nice for space saving), but it's not a huge issue. The blu-rays unfortunately don't come with any notable extras. The anime itself is excellent and whilst the story isn't particularly original and does take time to get going, the character progression is fantastic and the main protagonist is absolutely terrific- one of my favourites in all of anime. At times I think the narrative does stretch itself slightly thin bouncing around the different characters, but overall it does a really good job, and most of the main players in the Holy Grail war have a lot to offer. The narrative really excels when the different characters with their different ideals clash and it makes for compelling viewing. The animation is done by studio Ufotable and is also superb. Some of the CGI at times is a little jarring, but other than that, it is consistently excellent and watching this series on Blu-Ray is a delight.Overall, I give the series a 9/10 (which I round up to 5 stars for the sake of this review). I wouldn't say this series is brilliant value for money and the presentation could be a bit better, but overall I'd still definitely recommend watching this superb series on Blu-Ray.
