White hands and Arabic numerals stand out against the black dial, which also features a military time scale, a seconds hand and 1/5 second indexes, and a date display at the three o'clock position. This Hamilton watch offers Swiss quartz precision and water resistance to 50 meters. About Hamilton Founded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, in 1892, the Hamilton watch company has a history that parallels American history itself. Hamilton crafted watches for the railroad industry at the turn of the century, for the major airlines during the commercial aviation boom of the 1930s, and for American soldiers during both world wars. Ever since Elvis Presley sported a Hamilton Ventura in his film Blue Hawaii, Hamilton has been closely tied with Hollywood. Hamilton created the futuristic timepieces for Stanley Kubrick's classic film 2001: A Space Odyssey, and its watches have been featured in more recent blockbusters, including Men In Black and Lethal Weapon. The Hamilton brand consists of two distinct lines. The American Classics collection combines elegance with a dash of nostalgia for the golden age of Hollywood, while the sporty Khaki collection, inspired by the original wartime watches, is technical, adventurous and tough. All Hamilton watches are expertly crafted, using precision Swiss watch movements. The Hamilton story is a 120-year road that meanders from Lancaster in the United States to Biel, Switzerland, the world capital of watchmaking. Today, Hamilton is known worldwide thanks to its pioneering role in the worlds of aviation, cinema, as well as electric and digital technology. Hamilton watches have singular shapes that exhibit a perfect pairing of personality and design, which combine American spirit with Swiss ingenuity.Hamilton was founded in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Its first collection of pocket watches, the Broadway Limited, was known as "The Watch of Railroad Accuracy."In 1914, Hamilton was further thrust onto the national scene when it was chosen to be the official watch supplier of the U.S. Armed Forces. In the late teens and early '20s, pioneer pilots of the era trusted the Hamilton brand for its precision and accuracy and it became the official watch of many airlines in the 1930s.Hamilton watches could be seen on the silver screen throughout the '60s and '70s, most notably a Hamilton Ventura was worn by Elvis Presley in the film, Blue Hawaii.Today, Hamilton watches are synonymous with iconic style, as they continue to grace our lives through some of our favorite movies. Hamilton watches can be seen in such films as Men In Black, Lethal Weapon 4, Fight Club, and Independence Day.

Nice, understated watch, gets the job done
Pretty much everything that can be said about Hamilton's famous Khaki field series has been defined in Amazon's feedback area, forums, men's fashion magazines etc. There's a reason why; it's a watch that does what it's supposed to do, no fuss, no questions asked. I got the quartz one as I wanted something reasonably priced and did not need constant winding during downtime. It's very understated and simple. That being said, the quality is good and of all the watches I have, it's got one of the clearest dials for telling the time; bold white numbers on a black background. It came with the brown strap (which is excellent quality) but I changed it to a black leather strap for a more muted look. (Also because I'm a big fan of Bullitt and wanted to (sort of) replicate Mcqueen's watch in that movie). Granted movie-watch nuts will scream it's not the exact same watch! etc etc, yes I know that, just wanted a similar looking timepiece. Movie references aside, its a nice simple watch, no regrets, very happy with it and recommend it.

Nice watch
Looks nice, but the band was too short for my massive wrist. One thing I didn't like about the watch is the second hand (which is really the 3rd hand, that indicates seconds) does a "loose bounce" occasionally, as it sweeps around the dial (like you might see on a large wall clock that has a "3rd" hand). Did that qualify for a run-on sentence? Not a very good indication of a high quality movement. It does keep good time, however. Woulda like to have found a screw in crown instead of the standard pull/pop out style. Glad I bought it instead of the Seiko or Citizens.

Photo doesn't lie
The watch is exactly as pictured in the photograph. It's not too big, not too small, but it's definitely a man's watch. I find the color combination of the black face, silver case and brown leather band to be classy and casual. Thanks to another reviewer I was not surprised by the unpleasant smell of the leather band. I still don't understand it, but out of the box the smell is imperceptible. However, as you wear the watch you begin to notice the odor and it gets to the point where the smell becomes overpowering. This watch band has the power of two brand new pairs of leather shoes and a leather jacket. A month later the smell is almost gone, but I thought I wasn't going to make it. If it wasn't for the odor issue, I would have given this watch 5 stars because I got exactly what I wanted when I ordered this Hamilton. It looks and feels great.

Great watch at a great price
Just got my Khaki III watch with brown leather band, and couldn't be happier. I've been looking for a military style watch for a while, and glad I chose this model. The numbers and hands glow pretty well in the dark, and I've noticed that when adjusting the time, the watch has a hack feature, which makes synchronising your watch very easy. For $100 you can't beat this deal.

Nice Watch but is it American, Swiss, or Chinese?
I've owned this watch for nine months now and thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a ruggedly handsome design that looks great paired with casual apparel. Easy to read, and keeping accurate time as you'd expect from a battery-driven quartz watch.I recently needed to open the case to change out the battery after only nine months of operation and can now hopefully clear up some confusion as to the origins of modern Hamilton watches. The watch bears the Hamilton name and the marketing verbiage trades heavily on Hamilton's American heritage as an old-line manufacturer building high quality pocketwatches and wristwatches in Lebanon, PA since 1892. The fact is the Hamilton Watch Company completely ceased its American manufacturing operations in 1969. Thereafter ownership of the Hamilton name has been in Swiss hands, ultimately winding up owned by The Swatch Group Ltd. in the late 1990's.The backside of the watch case states that it is Swiss-made but I think this is misleading. It is a $25.00 Swiss ETA 3 Hand Quartz Movement (955.112) housed in a Chinese case, with an American-inspired design. Honestly not much of a value for it's $395 MSRP, but an attractive and solid value for $105.I'd buy this watch again for $105, but I wouldn't consider it for more than that. I'd bought a similarly styled Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Canvas Strap Watch #BM8180-03E off Amazon for $81 that I think is a much better value and never needs batteries, although I prefer the leather strap of the Hamilton. So lets be accurate; this is a Swiss-Chinese watch with a mass-produced quartz movement. It's not a bad thing, as the watch is quite nice.2018 Update: The first battery lasted nine months, and the second battery lasted six months before the watch stopped again. Something's not right and I quickly opened the watch to find the movement awash in battery acid. Likely a defect in the movement shorting the batteries, but the watch is only covered by warranty for one year. The watch sat in my drawer for over three years awaiting my decision - throw it away or repair it? I ultimately decided to repair it so now I can tell you a bit more of the story. The movement is a $35 retail, ETA 3-hand quartz movement #955.112 with date at 3:00 and overall height 3.9 mm's. (You can pick one up on eBay for $25) Now I'm going to double down that this watch isn't worth close to the $395 retail price. Between the Chinese case and the Swiss quartz ETA, this watch costs maybe $60 to make. Retail price should be a maximum of $180.

Tastefully understated, classic good looks, great value
I've had this watch for about a month now. Time and date are easy to read and adjust. Function has been excellent. The style is versatile, and goes easily with either a suit, or a pair of jeans. The leather band has heft, and a substantive feel of quality. Other reviews noted a strong leather scent from the band. I have not noticed this. One pleasant surprise is the the hands and numerals are luminous. This feature was not listed in the Product Description.I am pleased with the purchase, and would recommend it to a friend.
