Plexidor Performance Door Mount Pet Doors - with Lock and Key - Energy Efficient Two Panel - White

I ordered this door on amazon in 2016. We have three dogs and several cats. (We are foster fails!) Anyways my fur babies have always been pretty spoiled having a doggie door to go in and out as they please. We've had those vinyl flap looking ones you get from the local pet store and while they are great for awhile, they really don't last or hold up over a long period of time. Also, it there was a lot of heat/cool air leaking. So we were searching for a better alternative. While this door is A LOT more expensive, in my opinion, its totally worth it. It has held up to the abuse and it even comes with an amazing warranty. I like that I can also lock it and most importantly, there is little to no air leaking out of the door due to the heavy fuzzy weatherstripping. I was worried when I saw a crack in one of our door panels, and while I don't know how it got there...I have a sneaking suspicion that maybe a dog we were pet sitting may have tried to gnaw on it. Anyways, I called customer service and they were a HUGE help.This is when and why I decided to leave a review..customer service went ABOVE and BEYOND to help me. Something they did not have to do. I received my replacement panel with a set of instructions, but when I went to try to replace it I realized the local handyman I had hired to install the door and STRIPPED ALL the screws holding the face plate in. I called plexidor to find out what size screws I would need to replace the door since obviously I can't use the old ones. They gave me the screw sizes and even offered to help walk me through the process of how to take the face plate off. But that's not all....When I explained that the screws were stripped and I couldnt get them out, they even troubleshooted and suggested different ways that I could try to remove those stripped screws! Other companies usually say, 'well you have to figure that out on your own, but here's what we can tell you about our product.' But you can tell Plexidor really wants their customers to be happy so much so that they tried to help me fix a problem that was created by someone else. I feel like that is so RARE nowadays. Today, you have a gained a customer for life. If I ever move, my next dog door with be another Plexidor.

I really like this cat door. I was worried about putting a cheap looking pet door in my very nice front door side panel so i bit the bullet and went with this one. Its expensive, but worth the price. It looks nice in the panel, not like one of those rubber flap things. It's easy to clean also. My only critique is the outside frame. I wish this was stamped out of 1 piece. After butting all the pieces up to the unit, the verticals have a small (~1/8") gap. Anyway, still worthy of 5 stars because of how extra they made this thing.

Although more expensive than other options I am glad I went with this door.I bought a new rear entrance door made of wood so cutting out the opening would be easier. Fiberglass doors aren't easily cut I was told and I expect steel doors are similarly frustrating/hard to modify. The new door was matched to my old door so I didn't need a new frame. That saved $1500 so make sure you look for a door matching service if/when you buy the new wood door. If you have a panelized door like me you'll need to build a small frame on one side for the dog door to fit correctly. This is 4 sticks of wood so don't panic. All instructions are clear and a template makes it hard to mess up. I made a card board mockup of the opening to see if our lab could / would make it through before I purchased everything. The end result is a sturdy, very well insulated dog door. There are no cold drafts and it's 22F outside right now. The dog cruises in and out now without any trouble although needed treats to start off with. We make sure there's a light outside on at night.

The PlexiDor is a well made item that in my opinion is worth the price. The fit and finish on the unit is excellent and it even has the person's name on it who made it. That's a pretty good sign they take pride in their work.Installation took longer than expected but that was due to my own lack of skill and not having the right tools. It only took one trip to Home Depot to get what I needed.I am really surprised by how airtight it is. The doors close tightly and I feel very little air leakage from it. I have it installed in a basement door at the bottom of stairs and even though a lot of cold air collects in this area the PlexiDor manages to seal well.I had a looked at doors and was hesitant to get one only because I was afraid of the heat loss. This is a great product and I'm sorry I didn't buy it sooner.

This door is perfect for what I needed it to do. The saloon style doors are a neat idea, sometimes my dog just opens the one side and sticks her head out to see if she wants to go outside. The doors are extremely quiet as well. The last house I lived in had the double flapper door and it would make a large "clack" sound anytime a dog went through it. This one barely makes a sound. Everyone that comes to the house comments on how quiet the door is. The doors are pretty sturdy as well, they wipe clean easily too. Only time will tell how well the plastic doors hold up the the abuse, but so far so good.I live in Las Vegas where it is often triple digit weather in the summer and this door does an excellent job of keeping the heat out and the cold in. When I am inside, I can't feel the heat anywhere around the door. I made sure when installing to use spray foam in any gaps around the door, just be careful around the locking mechanism, it needs room to move. Then I caulked all the way around the door. Perfectly insulated and rock solid in the door.

Great product, great customer service. Ordered wrong size, no issue returning it. The dog loves it! Took her all of 2 minutes to figure it out. The cats just sit at the door and look out. You can see outside real clear, but when your outside you can't see it - which is great. It costly, but I'd pay it again. :) Hoping it handles -30 well. Northern Canadian Winters.

First of all it was defectivre, got broken just after instalation and second of all I had to pay to ship it back. And third, I was left with whole in door.If I can I give 0 stars

I did a lot of research before I settled on purchasing this door and I was not disappointed. It came packaged securely with excellent installation instructions. With the right tools, installation went smoothly, it was installed in about 2 hours. The finished product looks professional and high end. It was purchased for two dogs to use, a smallish pug mix and a medium shar pei mix. We went with the medium sized door which turned out to be perfect for both. The door has been in use for a few weeks now. With a few treats and about 15min, they were going through it on their own. At first we left the doors right off of it so they would get used to the height of it and get comfortable using it on their own. We have since put both doors on, but are keeping one side propped open until they are used to the feel and sight of the door. Fingers crossed that when we take the prop off, they will be using it like pros! Very happy with this purchase.

The media could not be loaded. Great quality, easy install. My dogs love it, I purchased the large size and it’s plenty big enough. Highly recommend this product! I live in northern alberta and have extremely cold -40 Celsius winters and so far it’s been great!The only down side is my floors need mopping more often as the dogs are in and out constantly.
