Ace Biochemistry!: The EASY Guide to Ace Biochemistry

Excellent for learning it for the first time, or review
You know how in a college (or high school) textbook, you have to sift through and highlight what the actual important parts of a chapter are? Well, these books are those highlights. These books are amazing and I wish professors would use them as the primary text. With the Internet, PowerPoints, etc, reading 30 pages per chapter as a author recites everything they know about a topic is really unnecessary and a waste of time for students (and a waste of money). It's much better to study this outline-like format, and then use the web or a professor's notes to expand on anything you need to understand better. I highly recommend this if you want a point-by-point outline the subject without all the extra commentary traditional textbooks provide. I think all of Hemsworth's books here would be good for someone who needs to review any of his subjects, or are learning it for the first time.

Great help for intro biochem class!
I can't say enough about how this book helped simplify and clarify things that my prof made seem overly complicated and overwhelming. Not only did I get through the course, but I did well in it thanks to this book.

Excellent Outline/Overview of Key Topics
Very Accessible, Informative, Useful SUPPLEMENT "of the most important subject matter", (Introductory College or "High School" Courses). Outline Titles ONLY, NO complete descriptions, (many chemical diagrams; good figures). It does provides an overall framework for you to start to learn Biochemistry.

which is fine if you want printed headers for your lecture notes ...
I made it to page 15 before I decided that I can not trust information printed in this book.Pg 13: The author lists nonpolar amino acids and "hydrophilic" and continues to list all other amino acids as "hydrophilic" as well. Also, in this same section, the author mentions 20 amino acids, but only lists 19. Cysteine is left out.The rest of the book is written in an outline style, which is fine if you want printed headers for your lecture notes in biochem. However, not good if you haven't had biochem in several years and are looking to practice for the MCAT.

Printed backwards
My book came in printed backwards!! So weird… as far as the content it literally looks like a table of contents from your textbook so I’m not sure what’s the point of it. Too bad I can’t return it anymore

Worthwhile
Definitely worth reading. At a high level that makes for a good review. There are a few entries that I found ambiguous but then I am not a biochemist.

Brilliant concise easy to understand biochemistry text.
Great concise easy to understand biochemistry text, brilliant for exam revision. Bought for my Uni Molecular cell biochemistry degree, as a mature student, I needed a book to supplement my lecture notes and textbooks that I could grasp the facts as quickly and easily as possible.
