DON'T BUY THIS PEDAL
I was using this pedal on an indoor bike when the metal shaft sheared right off causing me to gouge my ankle. I can only imagine if I was heading downhill on a mountain bike. This is very dangerous. I have only used them 40 times and they already broke.

*Changing Review - Don't buy
Below is my original review, before one of the pedals sheared off this morning while on my ride. I see just now that they added a warning not to buy if you're over 195 pounds (I bought in December 2020). I'm a normal size 200 pound individual, the fact a pedal can't hold out for a normal size individual is ridiculous.Pedals have been very good for what I wanted. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is I would have preferred the ability to tighten the pedals via a tool, to ensure snug. However, design only allows finger tightening.

Meh
The grease used seems to be more of an adhesive. They were hard to spin out of the box. I serviced the pedals and replaced the factory grease with good cycling grease and they spin *much* better. The box did NOT include a set of cleats as was mentioned on the listing.EDIT 12/2021:I only had a chance to used these a couple of times, but they seemed fine. I would have raised my rating from 2 stars but the company reached out to me asking about deleting my review in exchange for a refund, which is quite deceptive. I would raise for customer service, but they wanted me to delete. Further, due to these 4 email requests, I noticed that they have a weight limit on these pedals which I have never seen on pedals before.--About me: I am a roadie and spend most of my cycling budget over there, where I have R8000 ultegra pedals. These pedals are for my MTB which will see occasional "short" solo rides and occasional slow rides with my family. Not expecting prolonged high wattage output, so I didn't want to spend much. 🤞

Free upgrade???!!!!
I will have to update my review at a later date, because I honestly have not even installed the pedals yet. So this is more of an initial impressions and unboxing review. The packaging is actually perfect. They were not over packaged in a custom moulded foam block in an aluminum tin which seems to be all the rage on Amazon lately. I actually ordered 4 washers that were recently delivered in a what I can only describe as a display case, ridiculous. This wasn't that, neither was it just thrown in a plastic bag. It was delivered in a cardboard box with a small amount of padding. Just enough to protect the pedals without anything more than necessary. The next part is actually CRAZY!!!I fully expected the free cleats to be a very poorly made pair, just good enough to fulfill the "included cleats" requirement... I received GENUINE SHIMANO SPD Cleats in the original Shimano packaging. Now I don't know if this was a one-off situation because they ran out of the junk cleats they would normally include, but WOW! Shimano SPD Cleats cost $15 on Amazon by themselves. The pedals look fine. Not some fine example of German Engineering, but more than adequate by appearance, and well worth the cost if they actually work. I will say that the grease used on the pedal internals is thick and sticky, turning the pedals is like turning something with paste inside. So after installing them I will probably replace the grease.

Great SPD replacement pedals at a fraction of the price
I had picked up some Shimano brand dual sided pedals 7 years ago when I first went clipless. They were about $60 and worked great. I picked up a second pair for about the same price when I got my 2nd bike a few yrs later. When I got a 3rd bike this year, Amazon didn't have them and the only other seller wanted $140!! No way I was paying that so I started researching.I ended up with these pedals and I couldn't be happier. The pedals are rated 4 stars for a reason. They are about half the price that I originally paid. They look almost identical and work just as well. I can't speak to the durability as I have only had them on the bike for about 6 months, but barring any abuse from banging them into things over and over, I can't see them giving out.If you are looking to a dual pedal so you can use them both with, or without, cleats, this is a great product for the price. Even if they don't last for 10 yrs, buying a second set still puts you about $70 ahead of the game if you had picked up a set of the Shimano brand pedals!

Purchased in September 2020
I replaced the OEM pedals on my Schwinn IC4 with these pedals. The right pedal sheared off yesterday. However, I cannot emphasize how quick and kind the customer service has been. They have indicated that they have increased the thickness of the spindle so as to hopefully prevent this type of thing from happening again. If you install it correctly, its light and its easy to "clip in". Ive probably put over 500 rides on these pedals in the 8 mos that I have them. Im a big guy (6'4, 220) and I ride with heavier side of resistance at higher cadences. They arent indestructible, but I have to assume they would fit well with most beginner riders.

Dangerous, poorly made pedal
The pedal was easy to install on my Peloton Bike+ and worked fine for about a month or two, but then began to develop a clicking noise with every pedal stroke on the left side, and a few months after that the right pedal sheared off between the pedal and the crank, leaving a razor sharp edge. This happened in the middle of a pedal stroke! Other reviews mention the same thing, and some resulted in stitches and an ER visit.Additionally both pedals had cracking on plastic platform. These are poorly designed, cheaply made, and dangerous. I replaced these with shimanos, similar to the ones on my regular bike that I have had zero problems with. Do not buy these pedals!
