I tried this with multiple microphones and it did not recognize any mic I plugged in. Part of my reasoning is that there is no way to power the mic that is plugged in (most sound boards or field recorders power the mic themselves). I am not sure if this is what caused the issue but the cord did not work.

Looks good, doesn't work
This is a nicely made cable and it has the correct connectors for the job. Problem is, when plugged into an iPhone or iPad, neither device recognizes that a headset mic cable has been plugged in. Try a KV Connection cable if you want an iPhone mic input cable that actually works.
