Simple to operate and works great. I like that it lights up when you hit the up or down button.

Worthless unless you are on a mega tight budget, and are home constantly awake in order to change the settings in the wee-morning hours to the heat setting when the house gets cold! -__-

I am very happy with our new Aprilaire 8448 thermostat. It is made of good materials and the pcb board inside is of good design and also of very good quality. Overall its made very well and of high quality plastic and the instructions are easy to understand for installation. No tech required. The main reason I bought this thermostat however is because I wanted a recirculation setting. There are many days here in the Pacific NW when we don't need heat or cooling and with our old thermostat the fan would hardly ever come on to circulate the air and force the air through the air filter. Our place is small so the recirculate setting of this new thermostat will run the fan for 10 min to recirculate the air throughout our place and filter the air. Then after 10 min of running it shuts off the fan for 20 minutes before it runs again to recirculate. With this feature the fan is only running 8 hours a day instead of 24 hours a day in the on position wasting electricity and money. Recirculate is also handy because the way places are built no fresh air can get into homes unless you open a window. We have a carbon dioxide meter and I was shocked to see that with our old thermostat not recirculating the air the co2 in our bedroom was getting up to 3000ppm at night with our door closed. Outdoor co2 levels are around 400ppm and at 1000ppm cognitive function is impacted by 15% and at 1500ppm cognitive function can be reduced by 50%. Not good at all. So with a small window open a small amount and this thermostat recirculating the air once in 30 mins now keeps our co2 level below 1000ppm which is more ideal. So most thermostats now a days only have an on or auto setting for the fan which is not suitable and is wasting a lot of power for people that are leaving their fans in the auto mode all the time.
